Tapeless setup
If you’re looking for a tapeless setup instead of the powerplay this works great just know you’ll have to splice the AV cable included to your rca or other input in your camera won’t show a picture with any ordinary av cable id suggest you do some research for your camera also I’m using amazon basic mini sd 64gb although the mini dvr is compatible up to 32gb and works great

Great after some tinkering
Works great with my old tape camera, make sure you rewire a TRRS cable correctly using the MiniDV standard. The sound is awful (understandably), i recommend using an external microphone. Update: I recorded an entire youtube video with it and it worked fine the whole time. Definitely not as simple as using the camera normally but a great option for a close-to-genuine "VHS style" video without hunting down rare tapes.

TRRS is so wonky
The video in and out rarely matches anything. Sound and video never match up. Spend a few bucks more and get something that actually works a bit better.

Micro sd doesn’t click in
Micro sd card does not click in. I know there is no problem with my card because it clicks into plenty of other devices with no issue. Can’t even use this thing. Waste of money.

Audio will not work with a camcorder
I am using this on a mini DV camcorder to make getting the footage easier. The video works, however, camcorders put out a higher level of audio so the audio sounds distorted. There isn't a way to fix this besides using an external mic.
