Janet Clare's Artisan Apron Pattern. Size Range: Small to Extra Large. Review: Great pattern - Great pattern for a functional apron. Review: Read the instructions! - I should have used fabric with a little give. It needs to have a bit of stretch as you put it one. I used quilting cottons instead.

Read the instructions!
I should have used fabric with a little give. It needs to have a bit of stretch as you put it one. I used quilting cottons instead.

Lining?
I made it without the lining. Too hot for summer with lining. Quality pattern and instructions.

Whimsical apron pattern
While I've not sewn the apron together yet, I do like the style. The pattern's quality is also better than the store bought onion paper which will allow many usages.

If you're a beginner
I thought that this pattern would be easy but it really isn't. I don't want to or shouldn't have to go to you tube to figure it out. The instructions are hard to decipher. It also runs a bit small. Like if you're a 2x cut it bigger than you think. It would be a cute apron if I didn't mess it up. Will try again later.

Sizing!
The pattern itself is great, heavy paper no tissue. I dislike the number of size variations on the pattern, makes it difficult to follow and cut the correct size. The instructions might be fairly difficult to follow for those new to sewing, a little vague on some steps, but mine went together beautifully. I failed to try it on before the final stages and found it to be way too wide in the bust and across the shoulders, almost impossible to wear, I think this harkens back so many size variations printed on the pattern, it’s just confusing.

Terrible pattern that needs to be re-worked!
Terrible pattern, the sewing directions are awful but wasn’t too worried as I’m an advance sewer so if you’re a beginner don’t buy! Then the actual pattern dimensions are off and needed a bunch of alterations. Total waste of time.

Some of the instructions are a bit unclear but the basic concept and the wide range of sizes is good and it presents a straightforward project. Might have preferred the cutting pattern to be on lighter paper and perhaps to allow for more than one pattern because you might wish to make an apron in several sizes and once cut from the paper you loose that potential.

Lovely. Endless possibilities to individualize it.

This is not a pattern for beginners. The lining makes the apron very heavy, and it doesn’t hang well. Not recommended.

Clear instructions, makes a great apron that fits a variety of shapes and sizes. Takes a lot of fabric so I would use a cheaper lining fabric next time to cut costs.
