Rozana Basmati Rice (10 kg)

I am assuming that if you haven't rated this at five stars then you haven't cooked this in a rice-cooker. Because had you done so, even allowing for the subjectivity of various palettes, you couldn't fail to rank this rice as some of the best around. I cook Indian food every day and steam this in a cheap automated rice-cooker which I purchased at a local Chinese supermarket. Whilst the rice-cooker leaves a lot to be desired it never fails to cook this rice perfectly. It is very fragrant (but not overwhelmingly so), it is tasty with good consistency and overall it is as good as any rice I have ever bought in any country I have lived. My suggestion would be to get down to your local Chinese supermarket, avail yourself of a £23 rice cooker (London Wok) and start enjoying the full potential of this savoury product. ---- Addendum. This rice has now increased by 176% from its original price.....! How can that be possible? Are the farmers being paid 176% more? I hope so!

Tasty, plain rice. Nothing really stands out. The best part of this massive bag is how long it lasts, and for such a low cost! Me and my room-mate shared one for about 3 months before we emptied it, and we ate some nearly every day. Perfect carbohydrate source if you are a student and/or on a tight budget.

So handy to have a big bag of rice around, cheaper than supermarket and saves time and hassle. I fry it first with oil and spices, shallot etc, then boil for 5 min, cover with cloth and lid to steam, heat off and leave for 5 mins.

This is my fourth and final order for this University year, having thoroughly enjoyed eating plenty and plenty of rice these last few months (and gaining a couple of pounds on the way) haha. Please don't judge, I did share the rice with some of my starving roommates who weren't aware you could buy rice from Amazon. Anyway, when it comes to the rice, it tastes just as good as anywhere else. I use a rice cooker, and as soon as I pop the rice into the cooker and turn it on, within minutes my entire room smells of Basmati rice -- it has a strong scent, which can also be tasted when you eat it, but it's lovely. The rice tastes good -- it's not chewy, just perfect Basmati rice. What else can you ask for?

A real bargain, 10kg of rice for £8 delivered! There was a delay on delivery but I was given regular updates so knew exactly what was happening. The bag is huge, it's going to last us a long time - the rice is good though so I'm really pleased with the value, anything that helps keeps costs down is a plus in my eyes. I would certainly buy another one - I'm not sure exactly when we'll need it though"

A great quality rice which cook well and fluffy and suitable for many food styles , including the obvious Indian. The rice taste well and cook evenly through. It does what you expect the rice to do and in a large pack of this size, value for money for quality, too

Inexpensive doesn't always mean low quality and this rice proves the point. It really is as good as the other more established brands. Why buy Basmati? Normal long grain rice sticks and if you haven't cooked it absolutely right, turns into a bit of a mash! Basmati grows best in high altitude areas, in the North of India and Pakistan, the closer to the Himalaya, the better. Good plain boiled Basmati has a great fragrance but you can add the tiniest pinch of turmeric for a nice colour, or you can add a bayleaf or a cardamon pod in the water for added fragrance. A packet of Basmati rice should all be from the same area or else you will end up with different types of rice, with different cooking times which means once cooked it won't be uniform. You are safe with this brand.

The product is good for its price, One must watch out or Hermes or yodel your chances of getting a broken product is greater.
