It said made in USA on my dinnerware. That must have been an anomaly. I ordered this set on February 24th and received it the next day even though I selected normal shipping. I was extremely surprised and pleased with such a quick turn around. The dinnerware was packaged quite well and none of the pieces were broken. They feel very sturdy even though they are lightweight. I love the pattern, minimal and clean, but quite beautiful. I was surprised at the generous size of the dinner plates and the shape of the bowls are perfect, especially for cereal. You have to have good cereal bowls. :) My last dinnerware set was heavy stoneware so this is nice change to have lightweight dishes. I still have a few Correlle dinner plates of my mother's from over 30 years ago and I can tell that these will be with me for many years as well. I also ordered a buttercup set from Corelle and they are just as beautiful. I wanted to mix two sets that had the same color scheme and they mesh well together. I would highly recommend these. Its one of the best dinner sets that I got from Amazon. **Q: what is the difference between 'Vitrelle" and sets that do not have this ? i.e. Buttercup and Kobe?** A: I'm pretty sure that Kobe is Vitrelle. Like David said, Vitrelle is the laminating that they use to make the products, Kobe and Buttercup are patterns. I would say call Corelle to get a clear answer, but I'm pretty sure any of their products that are thin glass plates and bowls have this process. Where the things like coffee cups and thicker ceramic looking dishes do not. **Q: How hot do these get hot in the microwave?** A: only the portion of the plate or bowl that the hot food touches gets hot. I gave them to my mother as a Christmas present last year. I wanted to get her something that looked nice but was simple. These fit the bill. They look exactly like the photo. They're Corelle so they're pretty resistant to breaking, but they are not indestructible of course. She's had dishes in the past by Corelle and tends to only buy this brand.
