The Fort : Korman, Gordon: desertcart.in: Books Review: The Fort is an amazing book by Gordon Korman that grabs your attention from the very first chapter. The story follows a group of boys who discover an old underground bomb shelter and turn it into their secret hideout. What seems like a fun adventure quickly becomes something deeper, as each boy brings real problems and personal struggles into the fort. Review: My 12 year old son’s teacher recommended this book for him to do a novel study about. He often has a hard time choosing reading material even though he is a fantastic reader. He loved this book so much he asked me to buy him his own copy. He has read it three times so far. Gordon Korman continues to be a great choice!

This book was chosen for our county's Battle of the Books and that was our first introduction to this author. His writing style is very engaging for anyone but he understands his tween/teen audience. Told from the perspective of different friends, the story unfolds in a way that keeps you wanting more. Young male readers are a tough target audience, but this fit the bill. It made my son want to read other books by Korman, which he is enjoying as well.

She asked me if I could get it for her and then after she read it, she wanted me to. I love this book too! Its such a great story about a group of friends and the new guy who becomes their buddy too. Great storyline full of laughs and a few tears. Great for 6th graders!

Great story for 11 year old boy summer reading. Very engaging and deals with heavy topics in a safe way. The story is rich in detail and easy to write a report about.
