Great Value for a well made and quality air purifier
Sturdy, well made, easy to use and effective. I especially like that it is easy to clean the prefilter and the inside of the unit (I have cats and their hair gets on the outside of the filter but I can easily vacuum it off every few weeks). The only downside is that while the filter does contain some (I believe it is about a pound if I remember correctly) activated charcoal for light odor removal it doesn’t have enough to deal with heavy/pervasive odors so I don’t know how well suited it is to dealing with VOCS. I got this air purifier mainly to deal with dust from our birds (1 cockatiel and 2 parakeets) and hair and dander from our two cats and am very happy with how well it removes all those particulates from the air. I definitely feel like the air quality in our apartment has improved since using this air purifier!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I bought this air purifier because it is advertised as being specifically for bird dust, and it works fantastic! It’s expensive, but I think all good air purifiers are. It is ion free so it’s safe for bird lungs, people lungs and the environment. Well worth the price. Best of all, it is made in America, which was another selling point for me.

REAL HEALTH BENEFITS
My wife and I are 75 yrs old with a history of numerous health issues. When I found this item (ORANSI mod+ HEPA Air Purifier - Extra-Large Rooms, 3-Stage Air Filter) and researched it, I figured I would give it a try. Due to my/our Asthma history, household allergies, seasonal Allergies etc., and my wife's sinus allergies, it was worth the money to try it (IF IT WORKED). First day, (oh, by the way, the quality and design is amazingly beautiful). I set it up in the living room (where we spend much of each day). I set it on low while watching TV, and on full when we leave the apartment. At bedtime, I move it into the bedroom and set it on low for the night. Let me stop here just to say,...the noise level set at 'High' is very loud so as to disturb, which is why I only set it high if we are going out, or place it in a room we are not currently in. It is unbelievably quiet at it's lowest setting. SO QUIET IT DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH our SLEEP (or even watching TV). Well, this unit "WORKS". In the first few days of running this unit, our breathing was noticeably improved, and our regular days of 'coughing' have almost gone completely. But the best thing I can say about this is how "improved our quality of sleep is"! Almost no coughing or sneezing spells. When we awake, we can feel actually more rested than ever! Note: Since I bought the larger model, I have to say it is a 'hefty' unit, even though it has a very well designed handle, it 'isn't light'. (Good quality items usually 'aren't light anyway'). But since I have an 'all carpeted' apt. I devised a simple moving strategy by placing furniture glides under it and simply 'slide' it from room to room). Problem solved. At the time of this review, it is seven full days of use, and WE ARE COMPLETELY SATISFIED SO FAR. I will update this review periodically as to longevity, benefits, etc. Also, need to mention now easily it is to replace the filter, etc. All the functions were well designed with the consumer in mind. Hope this review is helpful.

Works Great, but replacement filters are expensive.
The Oransi Mod was purchased primarily to reduce the need for dusting and it does that well, owing to the HEPA filtration. Running the fan on full speed will exceed your tolerance levels, but 3/4 speed is just fine. Adjusting the fan speed and changing filters is relatively easy. Finding an optimal, centrally located location to place it is certainly challenging -- you don't want to just stick it in a corner and expect good airborne filtration. At $279 (on sale) with free shipping, it's reasonably priced. The big downside is replacement of the $50-60 HEPA filter every 4500 hours, when the reminder turns red. Unfortunately, the reminder is simply a timer and not an indicator of an actual need to change the filter due to insufficient air flow. Vacuuming the exterior of the unit and the HEPA filter when the reminder turns red (if not every month) seems to be a way to effectively extend the filter life and make the cost of the filter much more palatable. It's a shame that a nice unit like this doesn't have a differential pressure sensor to signal filter changes, rather than a simple timer. The unit does have a carbon filter, which has proven to be effective in eliminating odors, but appears to have a very limited adsorptive capacity, unfortunately. As a side note, we liked the unit enough to buy a second one for the basement cattery -- hoping that will eliminate the litter box ammonia smell. Tip of the Day: unmedicated chick crumbles (available at the local feed mill in 50-pound bags) are a cheap, effective, and completely biodegradable alternative to clay-based cat litters.

Great filter
I cannot say how well this filters the air yet. I’ve only had it a day. I do know that I no longer smell dust and my breathing is better. My husband and I slept through the night without medication for the first time this summer. It is stylish and seems to do a good job thus far. I’ve had no problems with the touch controls or the on off mode. Once you touch the controls there is a second or 2 delay. I DON’T want anymore remote controls around.so this is perfect for us. The noise is only bad if we turn it all the way up but set at 3/4 noise is no problem, we can still watch and hear the TV. I dont need a timer as I have different brand unit with a timer that is never used. With 2 asthmatics I will run this unit 24/7 to keep the air fresh. My only complaint is the orange handle. It could be better color to blend in with the rest of the unit.I highly recommend this purifier and will be ordering a 2nd one soon for upstairs rooms
