I can't say enough good things about The HVAC Bible For Beginners. This is an exceptionally well-written manual that has given me the confidence to explore HVAC systems. The author clearly knows what they're talking about, and they have a great knack for explaining intricate concepts in layman's words. The structure and organization of this book make it stand out. The chapters are well-organized and build upon one another to provide an in-depth look at HVAC systems. The value is further increased by the incorporation of real-world examples and troubleshooting advice. Having found this book, I feel like I have taken a giant step forward in my HVAC career.

Bought it for my husband to start learning his way around handy stuff around the house, especially with the prices we’ve seen the past year. Every maintenance or little repair call costed us hundreds of dollars. This book has bene hands down the best things I could have bought. We had a little issue just a couple of days ago and he was actually able to fix it thanks to the book. Absolutely recommend!

I don’t know what I was expecting, but I guess a little more from the description. I don’t feel things are explained well enough, in enough detail to be helpful. I could be wrong. It might be helpful if you’re buying a new house and getting an ac installed by pros, but not for diy’ers. It tells you not the process in which to install an ac unit but the process of who you’ll talk to and what you’ll ask them. I would think in time all the high reviews will be overrun by low reviews by disappointed people. The book came out in jul 2023 and already has a 110 ratings averaging out at 5 stars. Seems unheard of for an hvac book of this sort. But maybe the information in this 140 plus pages will be helpful to some people. I hope so. I hope I’m wrong.

I was looking for a resource that would help me understand specific issues with my HVAC system and how to troubleshoot them, and when I saw the 5-star reviews for this HVAC “bible” I jumped right on it and started reading.When I read their explanation of how air conditioning works I knew that this book was not going to give me the answers I was seeking. “The warm air is blasted outside” killed it for me. That’s not how heat transfer works—warm air does not get blown or carried outside, as this suggests.To be fair, a later chapter does talk about the liquid and vapor states of coolant and how this transfers heat, but what I was hoping to find in this bible were guidelines for sizing ducts, filters, and the units themselves—all of the variables and calculations you would need to know if installing a system yourself.I have a system that’s nearly new and is not behaving the way it should, and I want to figure out the reasons why myself, instead of paying a company hundreds or thousands to tell me. This is a profession that regularly overcharges for products and services, to the tune of 300-500% markup on HVAC components and hourly rates for “technicians” that are higher than degreed professionals in many other fields.This book is maybe 100-200 level reading, to put on a college-level of scoring—think freshman or sophomore year class. It is not the Bible of HVAC that it claims to be, although if you’ve never studied HVAC before it will probably be helpful to understand basic concepts. If you’re looking for calculations for flow rates, duct sizing, and sizing of the units themselves, though, look elsewhere.
