The Hare Who Lost Her Hair

I received my book today. Although the author says it is geared for children 2-12, I believe it is good for any age. I have never seen a book for children to date that covers the subject of losing your hair the way this one does. The illustrations are inviting from the front to the back cover. This book doesn't attempt to explain chemo or tell a straight-forward story about someone going through cancer. It is an imaginative, adventurous story that kids will like and want to read again and again. My granddaughter loves it. If you have had cancer or know someone who has, you will be able to follow every page with knowledge and great understanding of the cancer struggle. It is a very well-written and illustrated book. Every family and situation is different, and the book allows every family to open up their own discussions about it. I highly recommend this one-of-a-kind book to everyone.

The story of the hare aptly named Hope is delightful. In this tale, the main character goes from healthy, to in need of help where she engages the knowledge of her friends and trusts other signs as her journey continues. Coming full-circle, she realizes that she's once again healthy, feeling very loved, and more beautiful than ever.I challenge you to read this book and not say "awe" as you turn the last page.The writing is wonderful and the illustrations are equally as delightful. It's not just a tale about disease, it's a book about courage, adventure, community and love. I'm very glad I bought a copy; it's a good read for any child who feels different in any way.

I bought it for a neighbor who had completed chemotherapy and was facing surgery, and she told me she thought it was great. So, it was a very appropriate gift for someone going through a very difficult time with cancer.

A gentle, age-appropriate tale lovingly penned by a mom who's been there. Would recommend to families with young children who are dealing with any serious illness.

What an amazing book, it truly makes for one less hurdle in a difficult time. Explaining the side affects to our 3 year old was easy and she could relate the story with what was happening to mum.Thanks for writing such a great book

First of all, I am soooo late to give it a review and I feel bad...However, I am going to buy 2 more to send to my girls as I found it so well written for any age. We can all identify with it, especially if we have had someone very close in our family or friends with cancer. Kudos to Ms Leonard!!! A delightful story about conquering adversity. Though written by a young cancer survivor, it is a great story for children to learn that persistence is the key to all true accomplishments. A heart-warming tale that will hold your attention to the very end. The wonderful illustrations are the perfect accompaniment to this wonderful story. As a bedtime tale, you'll find your children asking for this book time and time again.

Prayer comes in many forms - a tear, a glance, a sigh, a touch and in the creation of a book. The hurting hearts of children facing unbelieveable challenges in their own lives will be lifted through Amy's story of Hope. Amazing book!!! this book helped my daughter to understand what I was going through when I was receiving treatment for leukemia. Every library and school should have this book!

I returned this book. I was hoping it would be appropriate for my 5yr old it was awful. A very long winded confusing story which I felt would have brought more confusion than clarity to explaining my diagnosis.I did buy 'Moms hot cancer' also available on Amazon. Much better.
