ASICSMen's Gel-Venture 9 Running Shoes

They look nice and feel great. This is my 2nd pair. Size 10 wide.

Husband loves these. Comfy and good for the miles he walks every day.

I've always liked Asics, had many pairs, run in them for decades. The fit was always great, especially in the heel. I don't have too many needs in shoes, but the overall fit has to be right, and especially the heel fit is crucial. I have narrow heels.I'm a pretty neutral runner, but I tend to favor stability shoes; even motion control shoes are okay if the fit is right. Asics stopped making the shoe I have used the last couple of times, and their heel shape has changed quite a lot on most of their shoes: the heel is no longer narrow, and does not do as good a job surroundingAlso, collar foam is not what it was: it is easily displaced and deformed if you're not very careful about how you put them on. So I try to choose the models carefully, looking for a high rear ankle collar. This model has that. I also look for durability - for example, an actual toe piece, again, not what most Asics shoes have now. And a sole that looks like it will stand up to the miles. This an area where the Gel Venture 9 falls short, since its designed for trail running and is covered with lugs.When I received the shoes, I put them on for a while to test fit. The heel was good, and - except for the laces, which are flat and seem cheap - the rest of the seemed fine. So I took them out for a run. They run "flat", so footfall is not silent. They don't have a lot of rocker, which is fine by me. The toe box seemed roomier than I'm used to, but otherwise they were okay.After a few runs, I decided to order another pair (I've learned to order multiple pairs of any shoe I like). They arrived yesterday. I tried them on, and the fit was the same as the first pair. But I was looking at the box, and I noticed they are EXTRA WIDE (4E), not normal (D) width. Wait a minute!I went online, and now all the normal width choices on the size menu are grayed out for this color. Only Extra Wide remains. So I'm returning these and ordering another color.But I began to get suspicious, so I looked at the box for my first pair: sure enough, they are also EXTRA WIDE (4E). It's too late now to return my first pair of Gel Venture 9s. I'm not sure if I should re-order now, since I also specified standard width originally and did not receive it.I guess I'll try one more time. This is pretty disappointing though.BUT if you have a narrow heel and prefer a roomy toe box, I recommend these as good basic running shoes. The price is right, if you can find your size. Good luck.

I’ve been buying this brand since 1973, I frist used them for cross country in high school, they never let me down, they make a specific Model for trail running too!

Great shoes. Lots of support

I have purchased many ASICS running shoes over the years. I love them. The Gel contended 7 has been a favorite of mine for running , deadlifts and even squatting. However, I decided to try Gel Venture 9 and I have to say the fit is very uncomfortable. I don't feel the same kind of support as with the other ASICS styles I own. I was very dissapointed because I liked the colors on it but I was expecting the sane fit. Thank you for making great shoe.
