Perfect Program for Me
This is not the first time I have purchased Music Time Deluxe. As a composer of children's piano music it has been a perfect program for me. The price is so affordable and the program is so easy to use. I prefer to send my compositions to the publisher looking professional. Music Time Deluxe does that for me. Really love this program.

Not bad, but...
This is not a bad piece of software. I limited my rating to two stars because of my disappointment with the on-line user manual. As you work through the tutorial you will find that most of the popup windows you see on your screen do not match the popup windows illustrated in the manual. It's a shame the vendor has not taken the time to match up the documentation to what the user actually experiences. Unprofessional.

Easy and lots of features
I'm a fiddler, and do a minor amount of composing. I am not a musical theory expert nor particularly conversant in the language of composition. I have not used other programs, so this rating and review is limited in that regard. That being said, I am really pleased with this product. I had an earlier version some years ago and when I upgraded to a new version of Windows, it quit running. For some reason, I was unable to find an upgrade and ended up trying to use a downloaded music program, the name of which escapes me. It was not easy, was too automatic and did things I didn't want, I couldn't figure out how to everride the automatic features, and it was, for me, a waste of time and money. So, I guess it was easier for me to pick up MusicTime again, because I had used an earlier version. At any rate, I am neither a computer whiz nor a music whiz, but was able to get a tune down and playing in an hour. I was really tickled, because it seemed just as easy, maybe easier, than I remember the first time I used it. Pretty good for learning as you go. Now that I have a good feel for the program, I can put a 16 bar reel into it in about 15 minutes. You can have up to 5 voices, so can add staffs to create complex pieces and turn the voices off and on. You can play any section or the whole composition at any time with the click of a mouse. Measures or just sections of a tune can be copied and pasted, speeding up the process. That's especially useful for tunes that have repeating phrases. Adding notation like slurs, rests, rolls is easily done with the mouse. Likewise, beaming can be manually done, or the program will do some of it automatically. Anything you have the program automatically do, you can manually change. Changing tempo, time signature, key signature is reallly simple, and the program allows you to do that within a tune. Almost all of the commands and input can be done on the keyboard for those so inclined. Printing is easy, too. One tricky part is setting up the page. Use the manual! It starts up with a standard piano staff--treble and bass clef. I don't usually use the bass clef, so had to use the manual to find out how to remove that. However, the program is really flexible in adding staffs and adjusting the number of measures on a line (for instance, it makes it easy to put down a 16-bar reel in 4 lines) The help feature takes you to an online help index for "Encore," which is helpful, but a bit cumbersome to use, especially if you are not familiar with the language of composition. The e-manual is very good and since it is in pdf, is searchable. There is a tutorial in the manual that shows you virtually every feature. While I have not done this, you can import and export MIDI and can hook it up to a MIDI device. All in all, this is a great product, especially for the price. While it far exceeds my needs, I think it has all the capabilities that an experienced composer would want in an easy format.

Good product, good price
The product was shipped as advertised. It's easy to install and it fills my needs of just creating simple music sheets with lyrics and simple chords. Also the price is right comparing with much better product such as Finale, Encore, ... I am sure these better products could do more, but I do not need fancy software and do not tend to pay for features I do not need and may never use.

son likes it!
I bought this as a gift for my son. He really likes it and found it easy to use. The packaging was odd... kind of looked used, and had no directions.

Music Time
I have had a copy of Music Time Deluxe for many years, but didn't save the code for it, so in order to transfer to a newer omputer, I needed a new copy, which I ordered and received promptly. I had a little trouble getting the new serial number to function and had a lot of trouble contacting the company. When I did, discovered the instructions for registering it were both confusing and wrong. But once I got it registered and opened, i was pleased to discover that a program which was very good to begin with has not been "improved" out of all recgnition. It still works the way it did, which was very good to begin with. Warning: The telephone number in the copy I received was for a company called Music Time, a different company altogether, and not for Passport which owns the Music Time Deluxe program.
