The First Time Manager Series has sold over 500,000 copies and is a go-to guide for new and aspiring sales managers on what to expect and how to succeed. The jump from sales superstar to sales manager has made or broken many a sales career. As a top-performing sales professional, you know how to own your calendar, focus your energy, create opportunities, navigate the sales process, negotiate, and close deals. Luckily, Mike Weinberg knows the pitfalls to avoid and mindset changes needed to successfully make the leap. This powerful new resource contains candid guidance on how to master your expanded responsibilities like a pro: Know Your Role: You have been entrusted with the most critical job in your business. Cultivate the Manager Mindset: Your new role is very different from your old role, and it requires an all-new mindset. Lead Your Team: Bad things happen when you attempt to do your peopleโs jobs. Itโs a habit many new sales managers fall into but itโs a lose-lose proposition. Learn how to lead, coach, and hold your salespeople accountable, instead of the unsustainable and unscalable approach of trying to do their jobs for them! Create a Winning Culture: Learn how to build a healthy culture that maximizes performance while connecting on a heart-level with your people. Donโt let your promotion become a trial by fire. Turn to this book to hit the ground running. Review: Great for new managers! - Great book for new managers! Have taken away quite a bit to apply to my daily life as a sales manager! Review: Sales management BIBLE! - For years, Iโve devoured the content of Mike Weinberg- books, podcasts, workshops etc- looking for ways to consistently elevate my skills as a sales leader. Going from being an individual contributor to leading a team was quite the transition for me, and I have made many mistakes. Mikes advice helped guide me, impressing upon me that execution of the fundamentals while never being the hero(best to be the hero-maker!) was critical to my teams success. I canโt thank him enough for all the guidance over the years and couldnโt be more excited to share with others his newest book โThe First Time Manager- Salesโ. This book is hands down his best yet- so simple and helps keep โthe big rocksโ front and center, helping the busiest manager(new or old!) stay focused. Wish Iโd had this gem when I first started! #thefirsttimemanager

For new and seasoned sales managers alike
Every person in a sales leadership role needs to read this book. And if you're considering making the move from salesperson to sales manager, read this book first! By the end you'll have a much better idea if the role is truly a good fit for you. Each chapter takes a deep dive into the key areas that help a sales manager ensure their team is positioned for success. Mike covers critical topics including, hiring the right people for your team, conducting the sales interview so you are confident you are getting the best person for the job, keeping salespeople accountable, the best structure for a one on one meeting and how to have fun while doing it all. I loved the chapter about understanding how much heart and mind you take up in each of your team member's life. The sales manager role is the most critical, and the hardest, in business. Don't hesitate to get this book. I wish I had it a decade ago.

Great for first time managers and seasoned sales reps
I've really enjoyed all of Mike's books so far and this one is excellent. It is shorter than the others, but still effective and builds upon itself in each chapter. I was provided an advanced copy of the book and loved comparing to his other work. A few key takeaways as an experienced manager - -Chapter 4, "Helping people do their jobs better" - a key takeaway here was "staring into a screen and interpreting data do not qualify as coaching." Amen. It's easy to get swept up in the day to day as a manager, but you have to talk to your people. There is more information beyond a reported metric. -Chapter 6 has great tips for effective hiring and making the most out of "sped dating process" that it is. -Chapter 8, "It is sales manager malpractice to ignore under performance" was my favorite chapter. Mike is all about blunt truth and getting results. Here he demonstrates effective accountability with your team and shares a few stories from his past. Overall, i love this book and have purchased a few copies for my team. I can't wait to discuss further.

A "must-read" for all Sales Professionals - Managers or Not!
I feel this book should be a requirement for all sales professionals. When I first bought the book, I hoped to keep up with the new trends and concepts of the profession (online selling, CRM management, gap, and secret sauce), however, I was wrong, the book did not address any of the so-called "new trends". it goes straight to the point, with no shortcuts. The author was able to deliver a direct and clear message about the issues that most sales teams and their managers face. Honestly, from the struggles of becoming a productive and active manager to how to build a winning team, Mr. Weinburg was able to cut the red tape and the smoke around sales, he addressed the reality for all leaders and managers of sales organization. I highly recommend the book for all who are in sales, thinking about sales management, or are already leading a sales team or organization. this book is a "must-read"
