Ditch the magnet piece and it works PERFECTLY!
SO GLAD I upgraded to this litter pan. I've owned the Petsafe self-cleaning litter boxes for over 2 years now. I originally purchased one because I had a cat who would pee on the bed instead of use the litter box primarily because he wanted it scooped right away. I was aware of that issue prior to bringing him into my home so I always had the bed protected with washable pee pads and plastic sheeting just in case. After purchasing the self-cleaning litter box, he stopped peeing on the bed. So, since we have 3 cats in the house, I bought a couple more when I would see them for sale on the marketplace. I was using the cardboard boxes 3 months in a row (emptying them and adding new litter every other week), but between the cost for the bags of litter plus the boxes, it was becoming a little expensive. I decided to try this tray after reading mostly great reviews. I was aware of the issue with the magnetic strip thanks to reading the reviews, so I played around with that trying to get it to work (placing it in two different directions, but each time the machine would clean it would pop off and the front lid would fall off as well or hang up in the air. I finally dispensed with the magnetic strip altogether and just used the pan without it. Today I changed the litter and let me tell you, IT WAS A BREEZE!!! It poured into the trash much easier than with the cardboard boxes. There was no "flap" to hang up on the trash can or spill litter out onto the floor when emptying it into the trash can, and there was relatively little litter stuck to the tray. I was able to easily wipe that off with the litter scoop. Best of all, no odor from urine spots in the tray. There were some residual urine streaks on the pan so I took it outside and rinsed it off, dried it, and brought it back inside. Normally when I switch out two litter boxes it takes me 20+ minutes because of the "clean up" due to spilled litter, getting the box angled into the trash can just so in order not to dump the contents everywhere, and then gently pulling it back out of the trash can so as not to throw any poo or litter back OUT of the trash can. I then have to carefully situate the litter pan back under the litter box, pop the lid back on, verify it reattaches to the magnets and then add more litter. Today it took me half the time with one cardboard box and this stainless steel litter pan. I will now be ordering TWO MORE of the Petsafe stainless steel reusable pans for the other two self-cleaning litter boxes. They make it so much easier to change the litter. I think once I have 3 of them I can change all three in the time it used to take me to change just one. I still have an issue with cats scattering litter everywhere when they jump out (and they are not fond of the hoods) so I'm working on a fix for that as well. I have the litter pads with the pockets all around them, but I'm going to get some screens as well to put up on three sides of the boxes so that they only have the front and one interior side to jump out of and then we can keep the rest of the area neat and litter-free. Plus it will shield the litter boxes from view from the living room, kitchen, and the patio. With regard to these stainless steel litter pans, if you have been on the fence about getting them - you should definitely do it. They are so much easier to clean and it is so much cheaper in the long run. Also, it cuts down dramatically on smells since the urine doesn't soak into cardboard. As long as you don't even bother with the magnetic strip thing you will have no issues whatsoever. You will be happier and the cats will be happier since they won't be able to smell urine either.

As expected
Came packed well. Sturdy and the right size and fit for the litter box top. Everything is pricey these days so I don’t know how to rate that part. I am happy with it.

Perfect tray for the litter
I don’t notice the urine smell like I did with the cardboard tray. This has been a good buy - designed well, size is deeper than the all in one trays and I’d recommend to those still using the all in one cardboard box with litter.

Litter pan
Would buy again cleans up good. Worth buying for my electric litter box. So much better then buying the replacement boxes.

Bought to replace my forever trays.
I like the idea of this being stainless steel and not absorbing the urine or corrosion from the urine in the corners like the forever tray did. I’ve had the forever trays for about 11 years, they were a solution to make less garbage every week. We have 5 cats and 2 boxes and change litter weekly. I changed the litter this week and it was a little quicker, the rounded corners helped with wiping down the trays. That was a trade off with the plastic tray, the square corners on those made scooping out the last bit a litter easier. I did have more liquid in the bottom of the steel trays then usual and I’m not sure if that was due to the cats drinking more during a hot week or if the plastic absorbed or spread the urine around.I used the flaps from my old trays for the bottom of the lid and back of the tray inside the compartment. I haven’t had the magnets for the lid for a long long time. It would be nice if they provided two flaps and they slipped onto the lid and tray. Having a back one would help hold solids in the compartment, which was the function of the lid on the original cardboard trays. Now that I have removed the old forever trays I realize the plastic inside the litterbox has also absorbed the urine smell, not all the cats squat. Not sure how to get the smell out of there.I’d say the product should continue to work well. The cats seem fine with the change, I thought maybe the bottom might be more slippery with the smooth surface. I haven’t notice any changes there, except more litter outside the box someone is flinging litter across the smooth surface while digging in the litter. This cost less than my original purchase of the forever trays, fit well and is way cheaper than buying new cardboard trays. I buy 8 pound bags of litter split one bag between two trays for almost half the price of one cardboard tray. Times when I couldn’t find silica litter and had to try alternatives some stained the plastic, talking to you walnut litter, this won’t be an issue with STAINLESS steel. If this came with two notched out slide on flaps per box, after removing original lid magnets, I would rate 5 stars.Update 1/25The trays are showing stuff stuck to certain areas like the old plastic trays. Maybe it’s just mineral build up from the urine. Still satisfied my purchase so far. We do have 5 cats and visiting cats sometimes so they are put through more use than most homes. I’m sure I could use something to disolve the build up, and will at a later time. I clean and sanitize trays in place and fill back up, a cat is usually waiting for me to make the clean litter available to them and taking turns who is the first one to use clean box.

Good quality, but not quite the right fit for my setup
The litter box itself is well-made and sturdy. I originally planned to use it alongside my automatic litter box and regular cat litter, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite suit my needs. I’ve only used it once, and for now, it’s been set aside. It might work better in a different setup, but for mine, it just wasn’t the best fit.

10/10 automatic litter cleaner bin.
Yes, it does work for the automatic kitty litter cleaner, buy petsafe.I just purchased this automatic litter cleaner for my cat I was tired of having to buy the replacements with the blue crystals and the CARDBOARD bottom. Didn’t really feel clean when I would replace it because since it is cardboard, it’s just feels dirty… so I purchased this and I’ve switched it to pretty litter, say what you want about pretty litter, but it does the job, all I have to do now is dump all the litter into a trash bag and clean the stainless steel bin, sanitize it with some pet cleaner, and dry it for the new litter. Save money and time, don’t have to store the cardboard replacements, it’s nice, just clean out the poop every week (depending on your cat) and I do litter every “60” cycles roughly.
