Great!! Works as advertised.
I'm impressed. This device is fantastic. It works as advertised. The native vLan and vLan taging (802.1q) is extremely usefull in my environment. The CDP/LLDP Switch/Switch Port/Switch IP information is also extemely usefull. It sure beats chasing cable, trying to find a label, relying on an inaccurate label, or trying to figure out what the heck the last guy was thinking.I sent a link for this to my boss, followed it up with the report from the app, he sent it to his boss, and on and on. We are now considering purchasing these for our entire organization. The wrist strap is a very nice touch too.I have been looking for a device like this for some time. I can't beleive I've only just discovered this.I almost bought a Fluke to use just for vLan, vLan tagging, and switch information, and basic connectivity, but that would have been like killing a house fly with a hand grenade. Overkill and expensive.I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. The bottom line is...If you are thinking about getting one of these, do it. Do it NOW

A little slow and clunky, but definitely usable
Slow and clunky operation but paired with a 48 port LLDP switch makes one man cable documentation very easy, paid for itself on the first job.Updates seemed to have dried up, might be a good idea to hold off until the long term stability of the device is defined

It is impossible to achieve reliable information from this tool...
My experience with the Netool NE1 was not a positive one. First of all, it is quite disappointing that the connection between the tool and the phone has to be WiFi. Worse yet, you cannot connect the tool to an existing WiFi network. You must connect the phone to the tool, which presents its own WiFi network. There are a number of problems associated with this, and it really should use bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, you cannot use the USB cable as a connection to the tool; only as a means of charging your phone. The app is very slow to display the link information on the screen, and frequently doesn't update at all. This makes the process of moving from cable to cable very frustrating and unreliable. It sometimes took upwards of 60 seconds for the information to be displayed on the screen. Sometimes I would get the CDP information, but no IP/DHCP/DNS information. Other times, it would not update at all. It would say there was a link (from a previous test) when the current cable was not providing a link, and vice versa. Unfortunately, this type of inconsistency really limits the usefulness of a tool like this. The point of the tool is to discover whether or not there is a link, and what the link connects to. If it sometimes doesn't update to tell you there is a link, or doesn't tell you what it is connected to, it is impossible to achieve reliable information from this tool.

Drops wifi connection. Delayed reporting port to port.
It works when it wants to.This devices works, and does the job it says it will, but only on it's own time. Get this if you run or support a SOHO environment. Do not get this if you support a large campus and don't have time trying to figure out why it keeps disconnecting from your phone, tablet, etc.I have found that when I plug this into an active network port, it will give me the information I am looking for (hostname, ip, etc.) but when I take it out from that port, and plug it right into the next, it will drop the network connection and then take it's time (minutes) to come back with the information on the next port.I have also tried using this with iPhone, Android, Windows tablet and Windows PC and all exhibit the same problem.Get this only if you intend on scanning one or two network ports a day, not dozens.

meant to be used with managed switch
For some reason I expected this tool to do cable analysis like some of its more expensive competitors. It does not, but I don't see why this couldn't be added as an option in the future, albeit with the addition of a terminating device. Developers, if you're reading this, I would buy that and I don't think I'm alone. This product works best in conjunction with a managed switch. Without that, the information it gives is limited. I haven't had a chance to use it in the field yet, I bought it for use with setting up and troubleshooting VOIP phone systems and will update this review after I've tried it.One thing that's overlooked about this device. It functions as a simple compact travel router as well. I wouldn't use it as a main device to provide Internet access, but if it's connected to an Ethernet cable with Internet access, with its default settings it acts as a miniature wifi router. You can turn its DHCP server on or off. Again haven't tested this very much yet, but my initial impression is that this could be very helpful for networks that don't have wireless for you to access. Plug in via Netool, and use the other apps you already used for network scanning and such, without having to connect to their wifi.

I have been using this tool for a couple weeks now and just love this port analyzer
I recently ordered a Netool. I have been using this tool for a couple weeks now and just love this port analyzer. The size is perfect, no need to carry around your bulky laptop anymore, Fluke meters etc....The Netool does everything as advertised. Well written, and easy to use for staff membersI will be purchasing more Netools for my networking staff.Cannot beat the price for what this tool does as compared to the other high end priced networking tools. The support staff from Netools is great, and very responsive. The Netool is constantly being updated and improved with new features and functions.Cannot wait for the next version!!.Anyone in the networking field needs one of these tools in their arsenal!

Will not replace your Fluke/NetScout.
Slow to boot - slow to take measurements - interface is pretty clunky. In a pinch it can save you tons of walking and a great option if you can't afford a NetScout.

Great idea, but doesn’t really work
Extremely slow to gather data, and doesn’t work that well. Didn’t discover my vLAN’s
