Loads of history
Gave book as a 70th birthday gift to a guitarist. It was well received and they enjoyed all the history and photos.

The packaging is excellent, and this book would make a fine presentable gift for a true fan. I did just that, sharing it with my son's guitar teacher after I went through it. Here's what we thought:The historical photographs are excellent. They bring you back to the days of simpler design and singular purpose, a truly bygone age. For guitarists like my bud, it's the nature of the workshop that caught his eye. He said that guitarists like to see that building process and where it takes place. Of course, throw in Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Dave Gilmore, etc., and you have star power as well. The early endorsers are represented as well. The book starts with surrounding context, the world in which Leo Fender lived and how he got into electronics and design. Here's where it progresses. At first, the book is a straightforward history, none too technical, but then, about 100 pages in or so, it pulls you into that technical world of design. But you can keep up, as it's still digestible to the non-Fender head. The author's voice carries everybody along for the ride at a good, even pace. Even the decline of the product is discussed candidly and informatively.I can say with full faith that at least one guitarist I know loved this book.

Okay. Not as blown away as I hoped I would be
This review is for: Fender Stratocaster 70 YearsI had high hopes for this as an impressive coffee table book for my ex.The book is okay. The quality isn't as good as I hoped it would be. Also, I'm just not blown away by the layout and images inside the book. When I spend a lot of money on a coffee table type of book, I want to be super impressed with it. This one is just an ordinary book that is bigger than others, in my opinion.

Fender Stratocaster 70 Years (hardcover book) by Dave Hunter
This is a beautiful giftworthy coffee-table book, which comes in a slipcase. I don't play or collect guitars, but I was interested in this book because I like rock music and vintage advertisements. There is indeed plenty of content in this book to appeal to those interests. It has tons of full-color ad reproductions and concert photos, on nice glossy paper.

Good book for acoustic guitar players, too!
I’ve been playing guitar for a while, but I’ve always stuck to acoustic guitars. I did not know anything about Fender guitars, or really about any electric guitars. This was a good book to learn more about them and I enjoyed the pictures as well. I do wish I had more pictures, but still a good book.

Picture reproduction lacking vibrance and saturation
It's an OK history of the Fender Stratocaster but the quality is not as good as I expected. The picture are all a little dull and uninspiring. Yes, a lot are reproductions of historical images but with a bit of photo editing, this could have been a great book. I'll add it to my collection but won't be keeping it out as a reference book to look at often.

Beautifully done — A perfect gift for your favorite guitarist
What a cool book! I got this for my musician/composer husband who plays guitar and I absolutely got sucked into it. It's everything you ever wanted to know about the Fender Stratocaster from its humble beginnings to the future of the company and the instrument. There's plenty of history baked into this 70-year look at this iconic rock n' roll lover's dream. Both my grandad and my husband played a strat (in addition to other types of guitars) — it's a classic every guitar aficionado knows. The perfect gift for guitarists or rock n' roll history buffs, Dave Hunter fills this tome with beautiful pics of the Strat throughout those 70s years breaking down the information into easy-to-pick-up-where-you-left-off segments that make the book enjoyable for both the casual or dedicated reader. So giftable, it comes with a gorgeous embossed hard case, outlined with the body of the guitar on one side and the neck on the other. Once freed of its sleeve, you'll admire the excellent quality of the cover, end pages, and the beautiful glossy photos and popping graphics inside. Makes an excellent conversation piece, coffee table book, or collectible. Highly-recommend.

Must Have for The Rocker in your family
Pros:- Pictures are big and bright- pages have a premium feel- book is a nice size and looks good on your coffee table- definitely a conversation starter- Does give a good history of one of the most important guitar makers in history Cons:- I would've preferred this book to be a bit bigger. A few more full page photos with a little less text. But for me, photography comes before the history.

Bought for guitar enthusiast!
Arrived in pristine condition via Amazon Prime. I don’t know anything about guitars, but recipient does and is a Fender fan. Pictures/ paper quality appears good. I do know that some of the information in the book was enjoyed and discussed with fellow enthusiasts. Would recommend.

Same old material
I am very disappointed with this book as I had hoped that it would contain some new information and pictures. Alas,it's basically just the same material that can be found in Hunter's 'The Fender Stratocaster' but rearranged a bit. This book is now destined to reside on my bookshelf gathering dust.
