We've been struggling with our family member who has Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD), a form of dementia often coming to younger individuals. She likes to leave the house and wander or take long walks and it's difficult to keep an eye on her while trying to work or get other things done. She can unlock normal locks and we were putting heavy things in front of the door, but she can move them. I saw this and thought why not give it a try. I watched the install video, read the directions, and then happily put it on our door on the first try. It's actually quite simple - open the door, insert into the latch, close the door, put the key in. Opening it - also easy! just pull it up and out. However - not so easy for our patient -- she has not been able to figure it out, and, since she's easily frustrated, has stopped even trying. This is so perfect! I applaud the inventor. It seems very durable so I see it lasting a long time. You can also buy a version that comes with a doorstop alarm just in case someone is able to open it -- we don't envision having to use that, but it also seems a good solution. I think this product is fantastic as well for personal security when in a hotel room, rental unit, etc. I will getting one for just this purpose!

I honestly didn’t expect to like this as much as I do. It’s super easy to install, takes literally seconds, and it actually makes me feel way more secure. I’ve been taking it with me when I travel and stay in hotels, and it just gives me that extra peace of mind. Small, simple, but definitely worth it.

I bought the Addalock portable door lock to have a little extra security when traveling, and it works really well. It’s small, lightweight, and easy to carry in a bag. The only thing to keep in mind is that it works best on doors that open inward, so it may not fit every door.

Very good invention... No "installation" necessary in terms of screws etc. Slips in between just fine, super simple. For the occaisional tighter fit, just turn the knob first, and then close it in... Simple. Have'nt tried this in a hotel yet... I believe it will work in most Motels though. Had a RIDICULOUS "landlord" and workman that would just go into people's apartments whenever they flippin' wanted! Almost killed a guy during one of these events. Bought cameras, and rigged all kinds of barricades to keep these nuts out and myself out of jail because of them. Wish I had just ONE of these during that truly miserable time. Now, no matter where I go, I have a few of these no matter what. I'm a very large man with serious combat training, and I would much rather let these babies do a terrific job as opposed to having to resort to setting up booby traps ever again, or ending up in court for mangling some fool for foolishly intruding. Though not really useful for when you are OUTSIDE, it is funny to set it up backwards just to show there's something at instant one they probably don't want to mess with when it comes to you insisting on your privacy. As stated in the beginning, I wish I had just one of these awhile back, but I have learned alot from such ridiculous circumstances, and have since learned much more civilized methods to guarantee my privacy which to me is priceless. This little rig does help quite a bit... you will like it. It is also adjustable and again just pretty neat, though you would be wise to pick up a few other security tools and enjoy peace of mind without possibly harming some stupid intruder, deserved or otherwise. UPDATE: Picked up yet another, and it is designed very differently. It is difficult to explain how, given the very unique/clever design... Best way I can describe it is that it's depth adjustability is dramatically different, the ones prior being much more versatile. Still great to have, and you can be sure they do the job right. I'm glad I have some of the adjustable ones... different doorways simply do not fit the most recent design. I'd write in beforehand asking if these are the 4 notch adjustables (ideal) or the less versatile tringular notch design, Sidenote- I found a GREAT place... everything is clean especially the water (thank god) but sure enough, a workman who was not aware I happened to be home that day (I male sure *everytime* now always being certain of when they decide to drift by) tried to come in without prior notice/permission... but this did the trick beautifully. He tried for nearly two minutes (as hidden video also shows) trying the right keys first, then thinking he must be using the wrong ones, trying others, and then trying the correct ones again, turning the knob and pushing with no luck at all. I fought myself from confronting him on the spot, as I am really trying to not let this kind of thing make me as upset as it once did (albeit for appropriate reason) and instead decided not to, opting to see if he was going to mention anything about it. Not a peep... as I expected. Did ask me later alot about my expensive electronics and reminded him I'm pretty good with stocks, have all my financials to prove it and offered him a discounted rate for some investment consultation. Shut him up entirely after that. In any event- It just goes to show you.., if someone else has keys to your place, nosy utterly wacko girlfriend (the i intial reason I became interested in things like these) workmen, landlords, don't be shocked... happens every day and almost certainly to everybody- save your peace of mind and right to prevent nosy weirdos from bothering you. Get some good locks... they exist for very good reason, and there are few if any good reasons not to use them.

Whether you’re staying at a hotel, motel, or Airbnb, this should help you sleep better at night! ⚠️ Update 06/13/2024 ⚠️ - Some hotel rooms have a detector built into the door strike, which sounds an alarm when you install your Addalock. I found that out on a recent trip. - This is still a good product and should be considered by solo travelers, but know that it comes with limitations to its application. Original Review: Pros 👍👍👍 - Portable: It’s very compact and lightweight, and it comes with a neat carry pouch. - Easy to Use: line up the claw into the door latch, close the door, lock the chain lock, done! - Well Constructed. - It works! It’s a simple but effective device. Cons 👎👎👎 - Overpriced: At $32, Addalock is pricing itself out of the market! On sale for $17, it’s easier to stomach. Works well to secure door, but practise removing it in the pitch dark/with yr eyes closed. You may have to in an emergency situation.

Excellent lorsqu’on doit coucher à l’hôtel!! Personne ne peut entrer dans votre chambre une fois qu’il est mis. Très facile à utiliser. Ma fille de 18 ans l’a utilisé lors d’un de ses voyages. En plus, ça ne prend pratiquement pas de place dans les bagages et il est très solide.

This is supposedly the original Original portable door lock, not an imitation. It is a nice touch it comes with an Addalock nice pouch too. I am glad I bought two.
