Works great!
I’ve used this to diagnose many vehicles. Even with a free app it’ll do what you need

Fantastic Device - High Praises - Paid for Itself First Use
The BAFX code reader and OBD2 Fusion software is easy to use, and shows much more information than just the basic codes. My 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with 180,000 miles was having a lack of power when ascending hills on the highway. Then all of the sudden it had a severe lack of power, and was running very rough. The CEL, Traction, and VSC lights came on. With the high mileage I was fearing the worst, and stopped driving it. After checking out the FJ Cruiser forums, I decided to get a code reader and chose this one for use on iOS with the OBD Fusion app (additional nominal fee on Apple App Store)It showed a P0304 (Misfire cylinder 4). I swapped the ignition coils on cylinders 2 and 4, and now received a P0302 (Misfire cylinder 2), indicating the ignition coil is the most obvious source of the problem. One new ignition coil later, and it's running like a top.Price of repair was $55 + the BAFX code reader + the app. Under $100.Who knows what I would have been told at the dealer? Even if diagnosed honestly and correctly, I suspect I'd have had a bill of $250 minimum. One point to note. The printed instructions omit a step. They state to plug the unit in to the OBD2 port, connect to it's wi-fi signal using the phone, and then press 'Connect' in the OBD Fusion app to connect to the vehicle. It may be self-evident, and totally obvious with hindsight, but before connecting to the vehicle with the app, the engine must be started, otherwise the app will fail to connect. After failing to connect to the vehicle, I watched the setup video which clearly says to start the engine before trying to connect. Obvious? Yes, but not stated in the written instructions.I couldn't be more pleased with this product.

Nice little gadget for checking your car – can be tricky with custom PIDs
I purchased this product since I did not want to carry around a large code scanner for simple check of my car and to clear the check engine light. I had to get a Wi-Fi version since iPhones refuse to use the Bluetooth protocol in order to connect to the car. After I downloaded a compatible app, I read through the instructions on setting up an iPhone using Wi-Fi. I connected the device to the car and opened the app. It took a few tries to connect to the car, but it finally did. It was also able to recognize my VIN for the car. After playing around with the parameters, I noticed I wanted more information. Unfortunately, the process of obtaining custom parameter IDs (PIDs) weren’t as straightforward. You have to go to online forums for your car and type in a bunch of formulas. Once you can correctly input them into the phone app, it works fine. Please note this is not a replacement for other specialty work such as ABS or airbags. There are still items missing such as bi-directional support and electronic parking brake service. Those items will require a more expensive unit, a handheld unit type. Be wary of purchasing this product this has limited functionality.

Really Great Customer Service
I have had OBD2 readers before phone apps and this one is 1/6th the cost. I think there is some adjustment to the new technology, but both the reader and the app teams were immediately responsive even though the confusion was on my side, not theirs. After finding out what my check engine light code meant (P2177) I looked online for the troubleshooting videos relating to my car. Two very inexpensive first tries came up and I am going to try those first. I am not a mechanic, I am a woman of a certain age, but I don't like not knowing what is going on and being at the mercy of mechanics who don't know any more than I do and would be trying the same things I am trying. Computers in cars cause a big barrier for do-it-yourselfers, but with YouTube videos you can see that the actual work is quite easy.Even if I try all of the possible replacements, I will be spending less than $100, including the cost of the reader and app. If you are interested in saving money on check engine light repairs, you need this. It does the same thing that the computers at service centers do to read the information from your car's computer. (You still have to go online to research the code and PID number which tells you what might possibly be the situation in your car, but once you get that info, there are lots of YouTube videos that show you how easy some of the repairs really are.) And, it works great with my iphone and the OBDFusion app.

Works like a charm!
I bought this because I was too lazy to take my car to autozone after a check engine light was coming on and off for a week. This product was very easy to use and the instruction booklet was straightfoward. I love that I can both scan codes and reset codes right from my phone! My only complaint is that it uses WiFi rather than Bluetooth, but that's a pretty minor complaint. You will also need a 3rd party app in order to receive data from the reader. I downloaded OBD Fusion. This reader is specifically compatible with iOS, make sure you have an iPhone or something! If anyone is having trouble, follow these steps:1. Plug reader into OBD2 port2. Turn car to "ON" but do not turn it over! Engine should not be running.3. Go to wifi settings on your iPhone/iPad/Mac and find the OBDII network.4. Connect to the network, more details and troubleshooting can be found in booklet5. Go to the app you installed and run a scan for codes! And if anyone was wondering, my check engine light was due to advanced timing somewhere in the engine. After researching, I discovered it was because I had forgotten to get an oil change for far too long. Oops :( at least it was a cheap and easy fix. If I had taken it to the dealer I have no doubts they would have sold me a ton of stuff I didn't need.
