What I Was Looking For
I have tried quite a few e-readers, and after being disappointed by overly complex user interfaces and subpar battery life (how could I forget the high price tags too), this one checked all the boxes. If you're looking for a simple black and white e-reader with a great screen and an easy-to-use interface, this is the one for you. The only drawback I can think of is that it can be a little slow. It's not slow enough to make you pull your hair out, though, and if you're patient, you'll be just fine. I also wasn't expecting the physical buttons on the bottom, but they ended up making the reading experience much more enjoyable than I anticipated.

Absolutely fantastic!
I've been using the pocketbook for about a week and it has far exceeded my expectations. The last ereader I had was a nook of some sort around the year 2012. The PocketBook is easy to read, has a backlight, and is adjustable. I can adjust the size of the font, read with the lights off, and orient the screen to the position i'm laying in. All of this is without advertisements (eat it kindle). The device came with quite a few different books preloaded in English as well as other European languages. The device appears to take almost any file type, however, I have only used .epub so far and they work exceptionally well. The battery life is great so far, I've read roughly 600 pages so far and have over half of a charge remaining after loading my books (in my mind that's not a full charge) The storage is great, and is easily expandable via micro sd. The screen is very responsive, I have tended to use the buttons, but the device is adjustable to reload the pages every 1, 5, or 10 pages. This results in every 5 pages (default) flashing black, but I feel like it makes the device load less frequently resulting in snappier response. In other words, it's compatible with everything easy to use, and in my limited experience the absolute best ereader i've laid my hands on. I also got the "origami cover" it puts it to sleep when the cover is closed and appears to protect it effectively (my solitary complaint is that it feels fragile without the cover). It feels like the cover is worth $20 just to protect the screen. TBH this is the happiest i've been with a purchase in a long time. I feel like they have provided exactly what is advertised, and it executes it's job exceedingly well.

I like it and is good value for the price
OK, so I like this reader, but one thing does hold me back. For comparison I do have a Kindle gen 10 and a Kobo Clara. What I like about the Pocketbook is the cloud they provide. One thing I don't like is that when scrolling thru your books it is slow - comparable to the Kindle. Once you're reading all is good and the light works great, just the scrolling part. In comparison the Kobo is much faster then both of them, but no cloud.

Broken Display
Screen damaged after less than two months of use. No scratches, dents, or other malformations, the display just completely bricked after being stored in my backpack. I had my iPad, iPhone, and laptop, all without protective cases in my backpack at the same time. Pocketbook is the only one that got any damage. I don’t even know from what; it was stored next to my soft sweater, nothing sharp or rigid.

My Favorite E-reader
I'm very happy that an account isn't necessary to set up before starting to use this. I could just skip the account process and load my DRM-free ebooks onto here no problem. I had a Kobo Clara before and that really bothered me that I couldn't do that without messing with it's internal files. It's compact enough to fit into my pants with larger pockets. Touchscreen responsiveness feels good. It isn't super fast when booting up but I expect that at this price point. It probably takes me about 15-20 seconds to from off-state to being in a book. Page turning can be done via swiping, tap or via the buttons on the bottom. There are a lot of customization options as well. I think this is a great E-reader if you're looking for something compact.

Insane Storage Space, Great Battery
I absolutely LOVE this little e-reader! It's a sturdy little thing and feels solid but comfortably light in my hand. The color is a soft pastel blue and has a lined texture to it. The buttons are clicky and I appreciate that you can edit their functions. I've gotten about a month of use out of it now and clocked several hours a day. Only had to charge it once and that's because i like to use the backlight. (Under less heavy use i could see this battery lasting months) There's a programmable light schedule as well as warmth scale for a set and forget experience. I really like the sd card slot for up to 128gb of extra storage. I have over 350 books right now and barely scratched that amount of space! I could have a huge personal library with me at any time which is wild! One important detail is that the pocketbook store is European. As an American, I haven't tried to purchase anything yet. I didnt choose this device for its store though, but for the storage space. I generally get books from other online retailers. You can read your DRM books on this device through Adobe Editions verification, so I dont have a need for an on-board store. And it has a "send to pocketbook" feature like sending to a kindle device for everything else. Or you could use a manager program on a desktop. Theres plenty of versatility! You should be prepared to set this device up a little. Its not hard but does take time to get your library all settled and loaded up. The screen is very sharp/clear and easy to read even at tiny font sizes. I wouldn't recommend trying to read comics with this screen size however just due to the need to pinch-zoom each panel. That's personal preference though, and could be doable. The backlight is nice and balanced and does get plenty bright. Ive never needed to have it over 1/3 power. Syncing to the cloud can be kind of glitchy at a certain hour so I do wonder if there's daily maintenance on that. But its not a huge deal. And the app that let's you pick up where you left off while away from your device is so handy. ALSO you can change your idle/off screen. Just upload the picture you want and set it from your gallery. This review is a little all over the place so I may come edit it and update with new thoughts in a few months. Overall, I'm very happy with my Pocketbook and I'm so glad it still offered sd card storage. I hope to be able to use it for a long long time!

Very well-made minimalist e-reader
The Pocketbook Verse is a delightfully minimalist e‑reader that feels solid and comfortable in the hand, with an intuitively simple navigation system that makes flipping through hundreds of titles a breeze. Its sleek, textured back gives the device a premium tactile feel—though most users will inevitably slip a protective cover over it, the finish is still a pleasure to touch. While the screen’s matte darkness does demand at least a modest boost from the built‑in front‑light (which inevitably trims a few hours off the advertised battery life), the illumination is gentle enough to read for hours without eye strain. Beyond the basics, the Verse surprises with a few lightweight games and an impressively handy calculator, adding unexpected utility without cluttering the interface. I’ve already loaded over 1,700 books and still have internal space to spare, and the inclusion of a micro‑SD slot means I can expand storage indefinitely—something I’ll be grateful for as my library continues to grow.

Possibilité d'utiliser une microSD.
Très bonne liseuses, cerise sur le gâteau, elle possède encore une possibilité d'introduire une micro sd de 32 gigas.
