I confess that, over ten years ago, these were my first-ever flannel sheets. I was always afraid that they would pill and be uncomfortable. Boy, was I wrong! These are wonderful, soft, quality, cotton flannel sheets that make me look forward to going to bed at night and it even harder to get out in the morning. They seemed a little expensive but I didn't think I'd get quality at any less expense. I highly recommend these if you are looking for flannel sheets! I'd give them 10 stars if I could!Below is a history of updates through the years. My original review was deleted.Update: After the second winter season of using these, they are still as soft (if not softer) as they were when new. They haven't pilled or thinned anywhere and the seams and elastic are intact and like new. I can't say enough positive things about these sheets. I've purchased sets for gifts and a second set to use when these become worn, in case they were no longer available. If you're looking for flannel sheets, give these a try. I can't see how you'd find any better, at any price.8/25/2015- Thanks to everyone for all the helpful votes! I still stand behind these flannel sheets and have repurchased them many times since this review. I love them and have used them in the winters and, sometimes, summers as well. I'm thinking the pilling some have mentioned may have something to do with the pajamas or socks people wear, or even very rough feet??? I've never had problems with any of mine and have purchased cream, chamois, and green colored sets. Just my thoughts in trying to reason why some had these problems when I never have. I'm happy that Amazon has kept these in their offerings. Happy dreaming!3-1-17- I've been sleeping on these cozy sheets for 10 years now. Not always the same ones, but different sets on different beds, through the cooler seasons for these years. I've not worn a set out yet. They've not pilled or ripped or fallen apart. NONE of them! I absolutely love these sheets and have sets put away if they ever discontinue them. I love them that much. If you love flannel sheets, try these. I ordered 5 sets of sheets from various manufacturers (all were claiming “Heavy Weight”). Only 2 provided an actual measurable “weight” on their descriptions but there was no way to compare or correlate the 2 weights. Such as 170/190 gram for the Pinzon Sheets vs 5-6oz for a couple other ‘heavy weight’ brands.Having them all arrive at about the same time I was actually able to “feel” the weight and softness of each. I had purchased my Pinzon sheet sets 8 years ago and they have been wonderful! They don’t pill and leave fuzz balls all over the floor as some others do and are amply deep pocketed for our 18” mattress. They launder very well. It took 8 years to get to the point of retiring them. I’m always looking for something better’ but in this case I think I will stop looking (unless quality begins to change)! Part of what prompted looking at others is that the color/pattern choices are limited.After comparing the 5 sets of sheets I can tell you now that a 5-6 OZ weight sheet is NOT heavy duty compared to the Pinzon 170-190 gram weight sheets!! I would rate the 5-6 oz at a good medium weight. The ‘feel’ isn’t as dense and feels thin. The FLANNEL portion of the sheet only felt soft on one side and I just didn’t think they would launder well and still have the flannel softness or feel after a few washes. After owing and using the Pinzon brand now for the last 8 years - I can say they DO NOT have a problem with any of that. We use our flannel sheets all year round. I also have a set of high end thread count sheets that are very very soft and I like them for a change every now and then but when my husband comes home I make sure to have the flannels on as when I had the other ones on he did remark that he didn’t like them as much even tho they are buttery soft Egyptian cotton, high thread count and elegant. (I actually didn’t think he would notice but he did! Just goes to show men do notice more than we give them credit for sometimes LOL!)In summary, Pinzon sheets are definitely durable, well made and at 170-190 GRAMS, Heavy Weight. I just wish they had a larger selection of colors/patterns. The Thyme Green sheets and Pinzon Paisley pillowcases look very nice together 😁
