Utterly compelling and brutal account - couldn't put it down....
Before this book, I had read Hunter S Thompson's and Sonny Barger's accounts of the HAMC over the same period. Utterly compelling and gripping throughout. To say, of the three, that this was the best book for me would be to ignore the importance of the other two contributions to my wider understanding of the 20 year period covered - an era I was merely growing-up in. I'd heard of the Hell's Angels but had no idea of their background or impact over that period. I also found myself looking up the cities and streets mentioned in the book to somehow make some of the places more real and to understand the scale and distances covered - so it was a geography lesson too! But overall Methern's book was really hard to put down. Don't expect to laugh more then once or twice, or find any glamour - this is a hard-punching book about a culture born in the '50's that came of age in the '60's and '70's to brutal and devastating effect. I wonder what Mick Jagger made of his HAMC experience.....

Very interesting read!
Getting a first person account of the Hells Angels through a former president of a charter is very interesting. What I like is that its not so much an author writing on his behalf but more his own say which makes it more interesting and you want to know more as you go chapter to chapter. Definitely worth buying!!

Good account of the Hells Angels
Found this book a bit slow to get started. Enjoyed some of the accounts of parties, runs and gatherings however and had to keep on reading.

One of the best
It sounds like a true enough account of the tough dealings that went on at the time in these gangs and has certainly been written by a biker, gritty, tough and no holds barred in it's descriptions of violence and drug highs and lows it had me fascinated. One of the best documentary-books I have read on this subject.

Amazing and insightful
Such a great book! You wouldn't believe it if it wasn't true. From the small beginnings to the hells angels we have heard of today. Superbly written with brutal truths about the club and the author himself. Really worth a read if your into bikers or not!

Fascinating insight into the World of Hell’s Angels
Written by an ex-Hells Angel chapter President, this book is a fascinating glimpse into the world of this notorious motorcycle club. It’s very interesting reading about the history of the club, and the author’s rise through the ranks. Well written.
