When truth is stranger than fiction...
This meticulously researched book demonstrates that truth really can be stranger than fiction on some days. What begins as the building of a new air transport company in Argentina, becomes a story of international arms trafficking, and ends with badly with an international incident. This new Middle East@War book has the details. The heart of the story is a bizarre agreement between Israel and a post-revolution Iran to smuggle arms and weapons parts to that beleaguered Islamic country in the face of a world-wide arms embargo. The aerial smuggling route would invoke the interest of a paranoid and murderous Soviet Regime, with catastrophic consequences. The text includes lots of period images, color illustrations, and maps. Very well recommended to students of the Cold War.
