Brilliant!
I was struggling for long time to find a proper solution to stop wind draught coming from my fireplace and thank God I found this thing! It works brilliantly, completely stopped the draught even on a very windy and stormy day! House is so much warmer in the winter. Recommend!

works well
Our very friendly and helpful chimney sweep recommended this Chimney Sheep to us when we asked him about the easiest way to block our chimney. We have since bought one together with an extension rod. My chimney is now safely and inexpensively blocked and draught-free, no tools needed, job done. The 'Sheep' can just as easily be removed if the chimney needs to be opened for any reason. We get the occasional small bird dropping in to see us and the thought of them dying of starvation in that dark sooty place is worrying - but not now - problem sorted. The Chimney Sheep itself is a disk of compressed wool with soft edges and a firmly attached rod/handle that is simply pushed up into the chimney forming a tight fit. Measurements are important so be sure to measure accurately and follow manufacturers guidelines. I am very happy to recommend this simple, cost-friendly effective device - in fact, I have just ordered another one for the kitchen chimney. Update on my above review My second 'Sheep' has arrived - immediately installed in our unused kitchen chimney - no mess - no fuss - very little effort - no more draft. What's not to like.

Stops draughts around the whole house
We have considered adding draught exclusion to our chimney for years. We knew the house was draughty but had been put off by advice that blocking the chimney could cause problems with damp. And we kept convincing ourselves we would use our open fire again at some point. We were attracted to the chimney sheep as it was a natural, breathable material which, hopefully, would avoid the possible damp issues. The chimney sheep has been an absolute revelation. Draughts round the whole house have been virtually eradicated. It is amazing just how much air was being pulled up the chimney. We tend to keep bedroom and bathroom windows open for most of the year so we are never going to be draught free. Even so, the chimney sheep has reduced air circulation even when the windows are open. So why not 5 stars? Mainly because the sheep is a little bit difficult to fit accurately. As you push it up into the chimney opening it tends to fold back on itself which leaves gaps around the sides. Pushing it up through your chimney opening and then pulling it back may work better but we couldn't reach to do it (and it starts to make a mess). After a bit of positioning (and pushing on the edges of the sheep with a blunt object to get it into place) we got it to fit. It is worth the effort required for the draught reduction achieved.

No more draughts
Bought it for our open fire place, which used to let a huge amount of air in (live in Dublin, very windy almost everyday). The chimney sheep does an amazing job in preventing draughts, amazing really. Plus super easy to install a very sturdy. For such a price is highly recommended!

stops the draughts.
It was a good buy. We were troubled with a draughty chimney and condensation. It was a bit awkward to measure but easy to fit. very pleased with purchase.

Needed additional packing out to secure
Finally decided we should do something about the draft created by the chimney particularly given itās only used at Xmas and hence out of use for 360 days each year. The sheep looked a good option and we bought a size larger than the flue diameter plus 2 extension pieces for the handle. Itās a standard modern round clay/terracotta flue. Unfortunately there was a slight bend at the bottom of the flue and I wasnāt convinced the sheep would hold in place. No question it did work in stopping the draft and we noticed an immediate benefit. However, 1st gale it blew out and being Xmas I just did a temp fix by padding out with bubble wrap. Since had time to do a better job using the foam lining from an old bed pillow and it is now totally secure and draft free. I also bought 2 more handle extensions (so the handle is now 3ft long in total) which makes fixing and removal of the sheep so much easier. Overall, if Iād done a full diy job, using makeshift materials, I donāt believe the end result would have been as good so in that respect Iām pleased with the original purchase. The 4 additional handle extensions have added an extra Ā£12 to the cost but for ease of use theyāve been very good. Quality wise, both the sheep and handle are excellent and Iām sure will be long lasting. Iāve given 3 stars due to the extra diy required although it was only a 10 minute job with an old pillow. Totally happy with the end result.

Firm Felt Draught Stopper
Much better than a chimney balloon, as they deflate and don't fit. I have a fireplace 16inches wide (at the front widest part), and approx 12 inches at the back. I bought the 10inch diameter draught excluder, which pushes easily up into the chimney through the narrow opening above where the fire goes, then it sits just up the flue. It's brilliant no more cold draughts, and no loss of heating up the chimney. The room is noticeably warmer, then when I want to light the fire it easily pulls out of the flue - just be careful as soot and small debris does collect above it, and can scatter when you pull it out - however because of its thick felt nature, most of the debris settles on the top and doesn't fall off. I then just stand it in a vase beside the fire equipment when not in use. The black handle is just the right length so that your hands don't get dirty, and you can see it so don't forget that it's there and light a fire! This is a fantastic item and must pay for itself in saving on the heating bills alone!

Bought the 10 inch version, the smaller 8 inch would have been better. The larger size bends sideways in the chimney flue and does not seal properly. It took a lot of adjustment to get it fitted correctly The chain could be a lot remind you it has been fitted

Fondamentale misurare il foro con precisione e scegliere la misura appena più grande in modo che si incastri. Arrivato, inserito, non si muove e chiude gli spifferi

Let's just deal with the elephant in the room first - this thing seems stupid expensive for what it is. I mean, 50 bucks for a circle of fabric with a cheap plastic handle, wth? But I will say this: it works, bigtime, and for a tiny fraction of the cost of getting a chimney repairman to try to replace a leaky damper. The fabric circle is really a super-heavy-duty, all natural, woven sort of felt from, they claim, special sheep with really dense wool. I can't speak to that but I'll admit that I've never seen anything quite like it. Despite its thickness and solidity, though, it was not terribly difficult to trim up with heavy shears. Note: DO NOT attempt to make an exact fit! You want it to be a little big, so it'll squish into the flue and stay there from friction. I also had to cut a perpendicular slit to allow the damper control rod to pass through. This, too, was no big deal. And the result? Not only did all chimney drafts immediately cease, but the family noted a great improvement in allergies! Maybe pollen was blowing down the chimney along with the cold air? Or maybe they're allergic to whatever soot or ash the draft carried with it? Whatever - the cost of this gadget will pay for itself with a few less bottles of allergy meds, to say nothing of the cost of however much heat was vanishing up the flue. You do have to be a bit handy, detail-oriented, and flexible to crawl around upside down in your fireplace. Obviously make sure the fire is long out, and the fireplace is as clean as you can reasonably get it first. You're still going to get a bit dirty but it shouldn't be Dickensian. The results will be worth it.
