Beautiful soft-matte finish that keeps my serum foundation intact
I know this is technically a powder foundation, but my favorite way to use it is as a setting and finishing powder over my serum foundation. My nose is usually the first area to become oily or start separating, and this keeps everything intact without requiring layers of setting spray. I apply a light amount, concentrating mostly around my nose, pores, and T-zone. It seems to mesh with the foundation rather than sitting visibly on top of it. The finish is softly matte and polished, but it still looks like skin—not dry, chalky, or excessively powdered. It also gives my base a little extra coverage and makes the overall finish look smoother. The biggest compliment is that people actually notice my makeup when I wear this combination and tell me how beautiful my skin looks. It improves the wear of lighter serum foundations without taking away their natural finish. A light hand is best because it is a foundation powder rather than a completely translucent setting powder, but used correctly, the result is gorgeous. This has become one of my favorite ways to set my makeup

My most complimented base
I get the most compliments whenever I wear this foundation. I was looking for an alternative to a full coverage, liquid foundation - this is perfect! I found the color match to be quite seamless for my complexion (21 Neutral Tan). I would say this is a buildable coverage, you can use this or add it to top your concealer. The application is easy, I would recommend using the brush that is designed for the product or a medium sized fluffy brush. A little can go a long way! It starts as a powder, but I would say that it melts into your skin without exposing any texture on your face. If you're combo/oily skin, this will be your favorite product in the summer. If you have a dry skin, make sure you're skin is moisturized! The foundation has the ability to last all day if you set it, I've found it pairs well with a mattifying setting spray.

Love the matte powder but the shades differ from the original
I started using bare minerals after a tiktok video that impressed me. I started out with the 02 fair ivory original. The shade matched perfectly and was light weight, covered my redness but gave my skin a natural look instead of a heavy masked look which I didn't want. I'm 41 and have mature skin so less looks better on me. The only thing was at work towards the end of my shift the bare minerals would wear off and look shinny or oily from sweating. So I decided to try the bare minerals powder matte. I love this powder. It has done wonders and does seem to last through my whole shift keeping the shine down. However, the first time I purchased the matte, I bought the same shade I used in the original, 02 fair ivory. It was too dark and looked kinda yellow on my face. Amazon did let me return it so I went a shade lighter and got 01 fair, matte. It seems to match closer to the 02 fair ivory original. I did add a couple pictures so you can kinda see the difference in the shades from just looking.

Excellent
Yes this is the original Bare Minerals. I laugh when I read the questionable comments as the packing has changed slightly from year to year and with different products; matte, original, shimmer, etc. I have been using Bare Minerals for many years and have several containers here (coloring changes slightly from winter to summer as I soak up sun quickly and my skin tone darkens). This keeps my complexion clear, covers imperfections, gives a beautiful light all over, all day coverage. Nothings else compares. So why is the price so much better here....well they don't have all the overhead folks, no store, no sales people...like that. Simple good business to bring you a great product at a lower price. Celebrate that. If you are not sure of your color choice you can head to a Bare Escentials store, Boston Store (used to carry it) or call around to some of the major department stores. Stop in and have a cosmetician assist you with application, then wear it home and check it out in natural light. Ask a friend, family member, co-worker, someone that looks at you on a regular basis to give you some feedback on the shade. The first time, the salesgirl tried to sell me a shade too light (ghostly). She light that effect, taking things lighter rather than matching my true shade. My husband was completely honest helping me get the right shade. When I went back I made certain to get a different person. She was a little shocked and made certain I was 'matched' correctly. I'm a happy Bare Minerals user now. I do have to change one shade in winter (or mix it down a bit) depending on how much I'm out in summer. I have a fairly dark complexion in summer that fades in winter. Bare Minerals keeps up with that. Most people do not have much change throughout the year. This make up blend SO well you probably won't have to change like I do. Love this make up. Wear nothing with it, or very little extra if going out. Sweet.

Great coverage. Natural.
I love this product, it covers especially well. They say it is so natural, you can literally sleep in it. Finish is sublime, application with a brush is sufficient. I know my skin feels great when I wear it, but it is expensive.

Flawless Matte Finish with Weightless Coverage
This is the only product I will put on my face. This mineral powder foundation absorbs excess oil effortlessly, reducing mid-day shine beautifully while feeling weightless on sensitive skin. It builds smoothly from sheer to full coverage without looking cakey or heavy, and the added SPF 15 provides great daily protection. I don't feel like it moisturizes at all, but it also isn't the stuff that just sits on the skin stealing all your moisture. It has a subtle, nice smell, and lasts a long time.

Great make up
I love this make up. When I first got it, I was at Sephora in JCPenney they said I was fairly light so that's the make up I've been using. I was feeling like it was making me more pale than I already am so, by mistake, bought Golden Nude shade and I put Fairly Light in it's lid then put Golden Nude on top of it and mix the two and I'm happy with the results. With this make up you can take it to the hair line and there is no cut off like liquid make up does. It lasts all day and I don't need to powder my nose in the middle of the day.

I had to buy 3 of these to get the right color.
I'd suggest getting color matched at an Ulta or the mall because the names of the colors have changed. I thought I could get away with a slight warm (03 I think) because its summer but it was way too yellow and I ended up just going with the lightest color available. I actually use less now that I've gone with the lighter color which is the point of using mineral foundation anyways. They DO NOT list their colors from lightest to darkest, there are variants between the cools, neutrals and warms that can be drastically darker even tho it's a lower number, or drastically lighter even tho it's a higher number. It'd be great if they sold the starter kits with 3 or so shades so you could take a guess and at least get one that matches without having to guess you're shade online. If you don't know your color ahead of time I strongly encourage you to get color matched in store until they have a more cohesive color line up. Other than that, this is the mineral makeup I have loved and used for over 15 years. I do have to touch up every few hours because I have oily skin, even tho I use acne medication. If I scratch or rub my face I just dab a little where it's missing and put another layer of mineral Veil on top. One of the big benefits of this makeup is that you can touch it up easily and flawlessly without having to take everything off and start over. If you sweat a lot or have very oily skin you know how big of a deal that is and is basically a make or break for me because most other foundations if I smudge it I basically have to take off my entire face of foundation and start over because there's no possible way to reapply or touch up one spot. Also if you go a shade lighter as opposed to darker and don't over apply you can really make it look like you're wearing nothing at all. If you feel like you have to use a lot more than instructed you probably aren't using the right shade. When I was using a shade that was slightly too yellow I felt like I have to use a ton, but once I found a better match I barely had to use any. I start around my eyes and nose and once I'm happy with the coverage there I blend it out work what's left on the brush. I've used tons of other foundations and this is still my favorite. It's also the only foundation that doesn't make me break out, even if I forget to wash it off.

I like
The finish is very good, it's just that I ordered it very dark.

NOT light
I bought the colour light as im very light in my skin tone, so i naturally thought that it had to be the right one for me. Unfortunately when trying it on, its very yellow and does not fit my skin tone at all. But the covering and feel to the skin seems good.
