Safety First - Think FUME EVENT
Have you ever heard of a fume event? More common than you might think, look it up. CO and neurotoxins are out there while you travel; this handy device will warn you reliably of CO. Great gift for those in the know that are either in the biz or fly routinely...03262025 Update; As an owner of classic cars that do not have Catalysts, I can say without reservation that these work for motor vehicles too. Had one go black with an un-noticed exhaust system leak on the '50 Cadillac years ago. Obviously these work just as well on our "land vehicles". Safety first.

Does work!!
The media could not be loaded. Bought this as concern possible CO build up in car after becoming ill last time driven. Rather than glorious expense of digital testers, gave this a whirl within car and nothing happened. Noticed no one else left review stating ever getting a positive test on this so figured at that point let's be safe and see if this does work! Video shows after 30 seconds exposed to car exhaust directly it did turn black. So this does work, cost effective alternative here and for others, peace of mind.Do want to note, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are different. So this will NOT confirm if high exposure to carbon dioxide (many people fail to know difference). That is no reflection of this product as many alarms and testers are same. Also, CO does NOT have color, taste, or odor. So if you "smell" something it's not CO. This is strictly for what cannot be known until too late. But again, this test does work and much more cost effective than fancy electronic devices so highly recommend here.

Went bad
Started turning dark color over the course of a couple flights, no more than a month after installing. Almost made a precautionary landing when it originally started looking darker. Over time it just kept getting cumulatively darker and never turned back even after I took out of my plane. Threw it out after about a month and a half of watching it turn black on the shelf.

Good CO detector for airplane
Nice CO detector, not too big and obtrusive. Also comes with a holder that can be reused when a refill is needed.
