Will these work for car keys? Or are car keys too big and cause the rings to lose their shape?

Yes they come in different sizes some very big and some very small ones and medium sizes as well.. If its for a bulky plastic car key i think it will still work.. My car keys came with a medium size ring so im sure one of these sizes will work for you..

Our split rings have not yet tarnished nor stained our pet's fur. For months. But probably nothing lasts forever. Incidentally I found these to be quite stiff, and at first difficult to attach to a collar or dog tag. Finally got the hang of it and succeeded.
