This did nothing to change my mood, life style, energy levels, health... To be honest, it pretty much seemed I was sold a tub of tar from god knows where. I'd avoid. Waste of time and money.

Shilajit, as I recently discovered, has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years, yet it strikes me as quite an extreme substance to put into the body. An inky viscous goo whose precise biomineral and geological origins are still a matter of debate, which nowadays has to be purified of heavy metal contaminants before being sold for human consumption, and which has the appearance and smell of something that belongs in an oil tank. Well, in the sense that a healthy human body is like a finely tuned engine, then maybe shilajit is a fuel we should consider running on. I thought I'd give it a go.This is not a product that a beginner would typically consume neat, although apparently one traditional way of taking it is by dissolving it under the tongue. Well, curiosity got the better of me. I used the small spatula-scoopy thing included in the box to try a tiny bit straight from the tub, on top of the tongue. (Don't miss the scoop, it really is pretty small, and it measures out what is supposed to be one serving). Having now recovered, I can report it tastes like if uncured rubber latex was mixed into crude tar, with some botanical and sugary aromatics detectable in the afterburn. So, pretty much as expected then.I'm unable to compare this product with other shilajits out there, and I was also unable to research the brand and manufacturers, as the "HealthEssent" I found by searching apparently do not make this item.Having consumed shilajit in its most challenging form, I think I'll give it a bit of a rest before trying more palatable preparations. Really, this is one I'll mostly keep around as a conversation piece. As a mystery substance from a completely different tradition to Western medicine it really is quite interesting. So I do not feel particularly well-qualified to review the item, but on the basis of its sheer intrigue I'll give it five stars.Note: the scoop in my photo is not the supplied scoop

I think the product must have leaked out of the protective seal and shilajit being rather sticky, it has sealed the lid. Try as I might, with a silicone sheet for grip, the lid did not open. Any more force would have resulted in the lid or pot cracking, potentially causing an injury.So until this lid can be opened I will have to leave this review as-is!

This is an organic Himalayan Shilajit.The resin is tar-like but soft.It has an earthy flavor.Which is unpleasant and bitter.A dosage of just one pea is advised.Having it straight is easier than mixing it into drinks. A plastic scoop is included. The resin has a low stickiness and thickness. Thus, this measuring scoop made of plastic functions properly.
