Great Original Ideas
If you are used to the "same old stuff," you won't find it here. Kinder has accumulated 1000 ways for you to stretch your brain and become more creative. In fact, this would be awesome for a creative writing teacher to use in their class (I suspect a bit of the teacher in Kinder). Whether you use this for individual exercises or for group exercises, there is something for everyone. One thing I appreciated about this book is the way he divided up the different areas. The "real" work begins at item 150, the first part is what he calls "exercises."As a small group leader of many years, I have often been challenged with coming up with warm up questions for small groups, and this makes me recognize the challenge of coming up with this level of ideas ...I am keeping my copy on my Kindle - to keep my brain active.

A new cure for writer's block!
I am glad I snatched this ebook when I saw it. I feel any writer, beginner or not, may find this a useful tool to the trade. The book is easy to follow, the author does not talk down to you or have that "I am smarter tone" which some non-fiction works have. This put me at ease and more willing to see what tips the author did have.I have been a writer of poetry and short tales for my own enjoyment for years now. Lately, I have been attempting to build on that to see if I can put together something of novel length. That dreaded term..."hitting the wall"...I totally get what all the other writers mean now! It can happen at the worst moments, can last for days. Productive, THAT is not! Now you see my original interest in this book. I am happy to report that even while reading sections, portions of the dreaded wall came down! It is like I suddenly saw a window that had not been there before. Very cool feeling! :)What makes Mr. Kinder's book neat is the many avenues for thought he suggests. I think now matter what genre you write in, even if there is not an ACTUAL prompt listed to suit your theme, you learn how to ask yourself the right questions. You learn that the key is just to write, no matter how crazy or nonsensical the idea. Bottom line, I find the book to be encouragement. So big thanks to Mr. Kinder for this one!

Go on and write already!
Okay, the book was thinner than I was expecting, but once I thought about it, it makes sense. It's only (slightly more) than 1,000 prompts, some of which are very short. I like the friendly, humorous style of writing the author has, reading the back of the book immediately made me more comfortable to explore the prompts. The prompts are fun enough that each almost immediately inspires me to where I can go with it. Some of the limited (time or word limit) prompts are challenging, but I think that challenge is good.I need to stop making excuses for why I'm not writing and this is a great place to start!

Not what I expected.
I was originally going to get the 300 writing prompts book. I saw it at Barnes and Noble and figured maybe it would be cheaper on Amazon. False. 20 dollar book to just write your thoughts in. So I figured "hey! This one has 1000 and has better ratings!" Well, I was more looking for a book that I could write INSIDE. And that had each page dedicated to one prompt...Like the other one. This one has multiple prompts on one page and has the look of a novelNot real impressed. I'm still going to use it...I'm just going to have to use a seperate notebook..which defeats the entire purpose. I guess I'll have to buy the 20 dollar book. Stinks but oh well. I won't kill this book with a bad rating but I won't give it the best rating, either. 3 stars. Average. I just want anyone to know who is thinking about getting this book...you can't write inside of it. It's a novel, pretty much. You use it...and then it just sits around with no purpose or memory.

So much fun, it will keep me occupied for years
This book is unbelievable. The prompts cover everything. From when my father first cried to noir writing. So much fun, it will keep me occupied for years!!! Though not a gifted writer, I do love to play around with it. Great for anyone who might not know where to start. I honestly can say it was the best buy I've made in years. The book is for anyone who thinks they would like to try writing, anyone who has tentaviely tried writing, anyone suffering writer's block or anyone who just wants to have some fun. I have fallen in love with this might yet small book.

A great book for fiction writers,
If your genre is fiction, the writing prompts in this book will definitely test your skills. Ryan offers many challenges in his book that will stretch your ability to think and write. He presents you with ideas to think outside of your comfort zone. If you take on each prompt, each one more daunting then the last, you will find your skills in fiction writing will become more effective. I truly enjoyed Ryan's writing style in his introduction he adds humor and has a wonderful way in how he expresses himself. His writing prompts are something you must try if you are seriously looking to improve your craft.
