Mikasa Elegance White 4-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

We have had these dishes for about a month, and we are really happy with them. They are lightweight and seem to be durable, although we haven't had a real test of that yet. We considered a similar pattern in Mikasa stoneware for about $20 less per place setting, but we are very happy we bought these instead.

I originally registered for the Mikasa Platinum Couture line, which is similar to this product, but has a thin silver line around the outer edges. I was so happy with the size, shape, and finish of it. However, my husband microwaved the mug, and sparks flew. I learned the hard way that even the faintest bit of metal makes a dish non-microwavable. It also fades in the dishwasher. I now know why people register for a formal set and a casual set of dishes. Anyway, after searching a bit online, I found this pattern. It's the exact same shape and material as the Platinum Couture, but because it lacks the metal embellishment, it makes it microwavable AND dishwasher-safe.I bought 4 place settings for us, and kept the wedding presents as our formal ware. I am absolutely thrilled with the Elegance White set. It doesn't chip easily like stoneware, and because it is made from bone china, it has this translucent quality that makes it very elegant. The white slip finish makes it extremely easy to clean (you'll never have to soak your dishes again). I LOVE this set. As a bonus, it is actually cheaper than the Platinum Couture line, except for the tea cup sets. (I guess it's because the Platinum Couture is a bigger seller.)

Received my order in perfect condition, well wrapped and received in a timely manner thanks to Amazon's shipping process. Have found this Mikasa Bone China to be strong for everyday use and also extremely elegant in a contemporary way for any formal setting. The size of all of the dinnerware is perfect. I have no complaints, whatsoever.
