Another win for Crin!
**Truthear Zero Red Review (User Impressions)** These IEMs are better than expected. I use them with a bass boost as I prefer more-than-neutral bass. ### Sound Signature **Bass**: Both quantity and quality are amazing. The texture is especially great — you can hear all the overtones on bass guitar clearly. They also slam very well on EDM tracks. **Mids / Vocals**: Neutral but not boring. All details are clear and presented naturally as they should sound. **Highs**: Neutral — neither too bright nor dark. They strike a perfect balance. It’s somewhat strange because they are airy and highly detailed, yet completely non-fatiguing. Excellent for long listening sessions or higher volumes. **Technical Performance**: Soundstage is good and wide enough, with solid instrument placement and imaging. ### Fit & Comfort Fit and comfort can be tricky for some people. They have wide and long bores, so it’s recommended to check them in person before purchasing. ### Comparisons **vs. Moondrop Chu II DSP** Much better bass quality and quantity, more neutral mids and highs, yet more pleasant overall and significantly less fatiguing in the treble. They obviously can’t match the Chu II’s comfort. **vs. Thieaudio Hype 4** Not that far apart, but the Hype 4 is the better one overall. The Hype 4 has even more impactful bass with superior texture, more coloured and forward mids, and super-precise highs. There’s something special about the Hype 4 — the sound feels fuller and more immersive than anything I’ve heard so far, though I’m not sure exactly what creates that effect. If I had only the Zero Red and never heard the Hype 4, I would be perfectly happy. **Overall**: A very well-balanced and refined set that excels in natural presentation, detail, and fatigue-free listening while still delivering strong bass performance when boosted. Highly recommended if the fit works for you.

Blown Away by the Sound – These IEMs Punch Way Above Their Price
The sound quality of these IEMs is genuinely impressive, especially considering the price. If you enjoy a warmer, bass-forward tuning, these could be exactly what you're looking for. Despite relying solely on dynamic drivers, the bass is punchy yet well-controlled, and the overall tuning feels very balanced. The mids and highs are clear without ever becoming harsh or fatiguing. Detail is also surprisingly good, not on the level of high-end analytical IEMs, but more than sufficient for immersive, everyday listening. The sound signature leans warm and smooth, and the included bass-boost adapter adds a noticeable low-end kick for those who want an even richer sound, which I really like as this is an alternative to EQ. On that note, these also perform very well when EQ’d. These IEMs could easily compete with, and in some cases outperform, far more expensive models, especially for listeners who prioritise warmth and musicality over treble brightness. That said, they may not fully satisfy those who prefer a more treble-forward or analytical sound. They also work exceptionally well for gaming, with great clarity and positional audio that makes them versatile beyond just music. The build quality is excellent, with a premium feel and epoxy red design that looks even better in person. They're lightweight and ergonomically shaped, offering a secure, comfortable fit ideal for long listening sessions. Sound isolation is also strong, with minimal leakage. They also provide more in the box than some other more expensive IEM’s. There are foam tips to further improve the sound isolation and performance, and also a travel case. Overall, these IEMs offer outstanding value for money and are a no-brainer for anyone seeking high-quality audio on a budget.

Good.
Pleasantly balanced sound. Punchy bass but not oppressive, the +10ohm adapter adds more bass for those who need it. Works well for the genres I tried: Folk Rock, Electronic, Hip Hop, Classical, etc. Comfortable with good long time listening comfort. The supplied tips are sufficient but you can probably buy others elsewhere. Overall well worth the money, performs on par with or surpasses my melomania 1+ from Cambridge audio on their neutral setting, with the benefit of also being wired.

These are ridiculously good!
Right. In very short....these are just brilliant!!! I've had them two days and I can't put them down! I use them with a UGreen USBC to 3.5mm converter on my Google Pixel 8 pro which has a hi Res player built in. I also stream hi Res music from Amazon which i have to pay for. So, now I've got that out the way....these buds look a bit funky in design. And I wondered if they'd be comfy in wearing. I opened the box and I was very pleased to see high quality packaging, a significant array of different sized rubber ear buds to fit most ears I would think. There are even some of those foam buds that form a really tight seal in your ear but they're just one size (which I guess is normal as they're foam so then they expand they should fit any human ear). I found my fit quickly. No messing. They're quite fiddly to get onto the drivers themselves but that's because they're a tight fit so they're less likely to come off in your ears. Take a little time to get used to them before making any snap judgements. I had to experiment with how far to push them in and to start with I pushed them in too far and didn't achieve much bass. Once I found the sweet spot by pulling them out a little they sounded spot on with the bass. Now if you're really into wanting to hear a lot of detail in your music such as musical separation of the instruments, a wide sound stage as if the instruments are coming from different placement on what you. Am imagine to be the stage as the band is playing, these provide that. Something I've never had from any Bluetooth ear buds. Even my high end Hi Res buds which are good, can't achieve a sound stage and musical separation like these. The bass is deep and punchy. Never boomy. Never distorted or muffled. Be aware these are wired earbuds. Not Bluetooth. So you have to get used to having the wires hanging off you like the times before Bluetooth. Not an issue for me. Especially as the wires hook around the back of your ears. I am not sure if the buds are better because my converter lead has a Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC) built in or not. I suspect it helps a little but I believe that these buds are just so well thought out and created with superior components, expert know how by Truthear and they use separate tweeter and bass drivers. I've tested them with modern dance music, jazz, swing and I've also played some 80s tracks, all in hi Res from Amazon music. They all just sound brilliant. Obviously some tracks are recorded better than others. That's always been the case with music. Some record production companies just used superior everything to get the music as near to the original as possible. I've had headphones and ear buds in the past from Klipsch, Panasonic, technics, JBL, Sony, Phillips, Sennheiser and then Bluetooth ones by JBL and soundcore. These Truthear buds sound the nearest to what I'd expect on vinyl or metal cassette tapes. I've been into my Hifi for over 30 years now and I have to say since buying these I'm rediscovering my music again. I'm hearing some musical and even lyrical details that I've never heard before through any other headphones I've had before. So here's the thing. You could take my word for it or not. I don't really care. But I do know there are some audiophile types out there that will really really appreciate these. Buy them now whilst they're £50!!!!!! They're easily worth four times this much with the quality of them. We'll see how long they stand up to regular use because I love them that much they're gonna get hammered for the gym and everything in between. Oh, and a massive well done to Truthear for producing something so remarkable for this price. Looking forward to seeing what you make next. Lastly, I've found them comfy enough for all day use with no discomfort issues at all. And I mean none! I've caught the wire a few times but nothing else in their use. I'll leave it with ya. Good luck.

Great sound, cheap cable
Was looking for some IEM's for a good while and these are perfect, for me. They fit amazingly, the comfort is next to none, sound is spot on. I take a star off due to the quality of the cable, but this can be solved with purchasing a third party one. Update - cable frayed and stopped working. If you are buying these I would recommend getting a better cable!

Really good for price
Fit really well, even in smaller ears as the nozzle got changed to be smaller. Dont weight that much and can sit comfortably with them for hours. Wire quality is really nice and is made so it doesn't tangle really easily. Connection feels really secure as well. Noise cancellation can be made better with the foam ear tips.

Great Quality, Bad Fit
Great quality IEMs, I could listen to anything with them for hours if they were comfortable enough but the nozzles are huge, even with the smallest caps my ears feel like they're being shredded. Be wary if you normally use XS/S/M tips these may be too big and end up really hurting you .

Surely the best in class for the price
These are so enjoyable - they're thick, smooth and very well representative of the mid range. The highs tickle through just enough to avoid it being muddy, though I will say, the bass is over-accentuated. This makes them fun, but despite being labelled as "neutral", they definitely hype it up. I can't imagine what the Blue versions are like if this is what happens when the bass gets turned down! They also supposedly have lower THD than the Blue/original. That's surprising because these definitely have a "crunch" to them. I personally like that. They don't have to be clean to be enjoyable. They remind me of the Sennheiser HD-25 in this respect. I'd hands down get more if I ever lost them and recommend them to anyone in this budget, or even just wanting a warm, saturated flavour to add to their collection.

Easy 5 stars across the board...
I am a purchasing consumer reviewing product that I bought. I am not partnered with any retailer or manufacturer, and am not receiving anything for posting this review. I will post updates to this review as my opinions change. [3/2/24] After a few days plugging these into various sources. I am overall pleased with this purchase. Overall sonic presentation is smooth and balanced with just a little bass boost below ~80 Hz. No serious "holes" in the sonic spectrum. Others have complained about the treble performance, but I find it to be pleasing. Present enough without becoming over-bearing. I am a little treble sensitive though to be honest. Too little is better than too much... and the way these present sounds above ~5k I find to be just about right. As far as mid-range sounds like vocals and solo instrumentation goes there's just enough boost/energy there to keep things interesting and avoid sounding dull. Be forewarned, despite the low price these are detail revealing enough to reveal poor recordings, and dull sounding source circuits. Basically a dull, lifeless, flat source or source material will sound exactly that way. These monitors will not do anything to "color things up". Conversely, well recorded material and a well chosen source will handily reward the listener with an experience well beyond the $55 price. I am very slightly leaning towards the included foam tips the most. They just feel right for my ears, they seem to block more ambient noise too. I only wish they included more. The silicone tips are a little firm feeling in my ear canal, BUT I like how easy they are to insert. I will probably go back and forth between the various medium size tips. I haven't completely settled on one strong preference yet. These are just a little on the bulky side for my ears. I can't comfortably lie/sleep on them. So as night time "sleep-cans" these will be a pass. I will stick with my cheap JBLs for listening to forest rain and ocean waves while sleeping at night. [4/23] Everything I stated above remains true after almost 2 months. I did wear out the foam tips though. I am perfectly fine using the silicone tips. There definitely is some midrange flair though, from maybe 1.5k ~4k. Not exactly sure how to describe it... but it's a coloration of sort. Guitars (and electric guitar cabinets) sound like actual resonating wood. Clarinets sound like vibrating wood and resonating air within a tube. Drums have an acoustic tonality like an actual chamber of resonant air. These monitors make music sound like a live single instrument being played in front of you... They don't sound like a 2 channel stereo system in a room playing a recording. [10/23/24] Still enjoying these monitors after ~6 months. I stand by everything I posted previously. I also use them to listen to live sporting events (NFL & NBA) on AM/FM radio. I also listen to late night FM radio music shows. Their warm / smooth signature works well for radio. I didn't post it above but I go back and forth between these and my old trusty Koss KSC-75 all the time. The two compliment each other nicely for times when I do / don't need sound isolation. [1/22/25] I stand by everything posted above. My brother in law gave me his old 128GB ipad and I have been using this as my source for all my CD ripped music. No complaints here. If anything the ipad sounds a little dull and distant compared to my Sony D335 and Magnavox AZ6815 portable CD player headphone jack. Its not offensive mind you, just different. With the ipad source the Zero Red sounds preferable with silicone tips. There is some bass accent with foam tips that work against "darker" sounding sources. I don't use the impedance adapter at all either. Its too bulky and I fear it could stress the headphone jack on my sources. [1/29/25] I finally got around to replacing the foam tips. I picked up a 20 pack of Sonicfoam SF0-SMALL. The Zero Red is well known for having a HUGE sound output tube, almost 7mm diameter. The SF0 diameter fits the Zero Red perfectly. Not too tight and not too loose. They are very similar to the OEM foam tips, except the Soncfoam material expands much slower so I do not have to hurry/rush to insert them. As far as sonics and comfort go they are an exact match to the OEM foams. Not sure how durable they are. All foam tips are basically disposable anyways.
