A Must Have Phatmoto 79cc Engine Upgrade
I picked this up as an upgrade for the 79cc Lifan engine on a Phatmoto gas bike. Worth every penny. The stock carb works fine, but this beefy performance carb upgrade works much, much better and looks awesome on the Lifan engine. Install was easy, quality is great and it really makes a big difference in increasing top speed (5 or 6mph faster) when coupled with a custom Phatmoto exhaust upgrade which is also available on Amazon for about $65. I chose to mod the stock engine with these performance upgrades for more speed instead of swapping out for a bigger engine because with this performance carbeurator and a custom exhaust installed on the 32mph Phatmoto variant, the stock 79cc Lifan rips right along at 38mph, which is more than fast enough for my needs. It's also a perfect size engine for this bike and unlike the larger engines it does a great job of staying out of your way and giving you tons of leg room, space to install a water bottle or bluetooth speaker as shown, and plenty of leg clearance from hot surfaces. If you own a Phatmoto and prefer modding the stock 79cc engine for every drop of speed and performance instead of installing a bigger engine, this performance boosting carb kit is a must have upgrade.

Now it IS a direct bolt on for Oryxearth 105cc Lifan engine Minibike
Ordered this upgrade kit for my son's Oryxearth 105cc minibike before Christmas in Dec. 2025. I read the other reviews and watched the videos that said it does not directly bolt on and will interfere with the stock fuel tank. I can report that they have changed the design of the intake manifold tube. Instead of a bent tube welded to end plates, it is now a cast stainless part. More importantly, they have changed the geometry so that the screw cap of the throttle cable does not hit the stock fuel tank anymore. I think the carburetor now sits a bit farther out away from the engine. As a result, the air filter sticks out a bit more than the previous pictures show. The entire assembly bolts on without interference and I was able to use standard length Allen hex keys to tighten the bolts without problems. The easiest way to remove the engine governor is to remove all of the chrome plated claptrap and springs that are attached to the back of the engine next to and below the old carburetor. To remove the long arm attached to the shaft coming out of the crankcase, use a 10mm wrench or socket. It is hard to get to, but once the nut is loose, the arm will slide off the shaft. Other people open up the crankcase and remove the shaft, the gear and the governor, but then you need to plug the hole in the side of the crankcase where the shaft went through. We just left the shaft poking out of the crankcase and left all of the internal governor parts in place. They don't do anything anymore after removing all of the external governor parts, so they are just along for the ride. I do agree with another reviewer that the bolts that attach the manifold onto the engine are a bit short. I disagree that they only have one turn of engagement. It is more like two to three turns, but that is still really too little. They should really supply longer bolts for this. Only other negative is that you do need to purchase about a foot of fuel line to hook it up to the fuel tank. Seems strange that they include the carburetor vent tube, but not the actual fuel line. Also disregard the review that says you need to get another throttle hand assembly and cable. The supplied throttle cable worked perfectly with the stock Oryxearth hand throttle. You do need to take it apart to install the new cable. In our case, one of the bolts was stuck and we ended up drilling it out and replacing both bolts with better M5-16 socket head cap screws. Getting the throttle apart to install the cable was actually the hardest part of our install. The fantastic news was that once installed, the engine started right up and idled OK (we live near sea level, which probably matters for this). There was a little throttle hesitation when slamming the throttle wide open. I may try to play with the mixture and idle screws to see if I can improve that. So, I can really recommend this upgrade. With an exhaust header it really livens up the engine. The stock Oryxearth 105cc minibike topped out at 24mph because of the governor. Disabling the governor and installing the exhaust header, new racing plug, and this carburetor kit, the minibike gets to a solid 35 mph, which is a 46% increase in speed! The above performance was with the provided inline fuel filter. I decided to install that to somewhat limit fuel flow into the engine so it does not rev too high. I don't want the engine blowing up with my son on it. The stock governor limited the engine to 3,600 RPM. With the increase in speed we got, it must now be reving to 5,250 RPM, which is plenty high. Any higher and I would worry about the flywheel or connecting rod letting go. So, beware of overtuning this engine without internal strengthening (stronger parts are NOT available, unless someone else knows a secret source).

Large power increase
Only thing missing was a longer fuel line but otherwise it’s a very good kit. Brought my mini bike from 22mph to 37.
