Lovecraft eZine issue 37 Review: John Langan's part of Lovecraft eZine 37 is a two ... - John Langan's part of Lovecraft eZine 37 is a two page short story. It's more mood and implication than explicit horror, and certainly not gore/splatter. There's the casual mention of a same sex marriage, but no real sexual content. However, the piece is simply too short to convey much of a sense of the eldritch or feel particularly "Lovecraftian". Aiming at a gradually rising sense of disquiet and quiet horror takes at least a few pages, and well written parts such as a tiny flashback description of a routine activity designed to both feel ironic and make the reader empathise with the characters seem to take up more space than the story as a whole can afford to give them. This work has been over-editied, probably by the author himself, but I'm not sure the ending would work on anything much longer. Review: Lovecraft e zine is always interesting . For me some themes are more intriguing than others.this wasn't one I particularly enjoyed but the stories were well written.
