EA Sports' best game
Nothing is bad about Fifa 07. It's a must get for anyone who enjoys footballanywhere around the world. EA Sports are very accurate with the kits of goalkeepersand outfielders.I mainly use this game's manager mode and it is good. Very realistic, you have problems to deal with : endless messages from the board and it makes me understand how stressful this job can be. At the moment I have a lot of pressure on me and could easily get fired ! It is good that you can change the squads with Club Transfers, I've never used it but it's a good idea, you could give Torquay United a world class player (they certainly could do with one). So, in short, this is a good game with lots of things you can do. What can EA Sports do with Fifa 08 ? all I can suggest is to include the Russian Premier League.Adam Hitchcock (aged 11)

One of EA's milestones in the Fifa series
Fifa 07 in my personal experience marked a milestone in the Fifa series because I had only played 98, 99 and 2002, all of which had a very "mechanical" gameplay (ball glued to your foot, every shot directly to goals, you know the stuff, not much fun). However, I think 07 started trying to imitate the Pro Evo Series from Konami as in a totally different engine. Players now can "push" the ball along. Ball doesn't stay glued to your feet. Physics are quite better. A lot of physic designs get altered as the ball can rebound off an opponent's back, opponent's can trip over trying to control a ball, you jostle with them, you can pull their top and foul them, shots have a power bar, etc., features which, at first glance, made the game a lot more exciting and shifted the bounderies which Fifa series held with the player. If you top if off with Fifa having the rights to all licences of kits, teams and players and including career modes, transfers and create your own players and teams, and the first time you try Fifa 07 you think that Pro Evo finally found a serious competitor. However in my experience and the couple of years I've been playing Fifa 07, I have a sort of love-hate relationship with the game. Competition's really interesting when you create your own team, give them a series of attibutes and enter the team in La Liga or the Premiership. To me it's a lot more fun playing with weaker players where thinking and quick passing is the key to winning. You have a lot of fun playing, mainly because of the nice little touches the game has. There are loads of dribbles, dummies, turns, fakes, stepovers and even signature moves your players can perform with shoulder buttons and right analog stick. You can buy and sell players in the transfer market, offer contracts to your young starters in the footie academy and so forth. All that sounds pretty. But the ugly is just too ugly for the pretty to compensate. There are many flaws in the game which the programmers just didn't put enough effort into. The list of flaws is just too long but to name a few important ones: difficulty is, let's put it this way, ridiculous. When you play Inter Milan, Barcelona or Chelsea in a final and in the highest difficulty level, of course it's gonna be tough. However the goals they score are at many times, absolutely ridiculous. This game is a huge of example of what AI does to win at all costs. The chances of you hitting the post when shooting for goal and chances of them scoring from 30 yards is just too high in many matches. That's fine with me but what really pees you off is when you face a second division team like Numancia or Cadiz in the spanish Liga and they're programmed to play like bleeding Barcelona or Man Utd, something which I will never understand. If you win a cup, there is no cup celebration, just the players hugging each other and jumping. They acquired all licences except the cups?? Strange to say the least. There's no more "man of the match" at the end of each match. Can't explain the reason for that. Opponents don't use any of the dribbles you can do with analog stick. WHY?? How can you program a game where the opposing team doesn't even use any of 20 or 30 moves that you can perform?? And well, the the weird fetish that EA had with the mediocre Zaragoza in the spanish Liga putting them EVERY SINGLE TIME on first position when you're playing the season is just too weird for words. Not to mention many players who look NOTHING like the real life ones (check out Kun Aguero from Atleti and you'll see what I mean). All of these flaws could've been avoided but they make Fifa 07 a game which, albeit addictive, just gets 3 stars out of 5.
