ATH-M50XSTS StreamSet Professional Streaming Headset XLR/Analog (Black)

Have my Audio-Technica ATH-M50XSTS plugged directly into my GoXLR Mixer via Aux + XLR. Never had any audio issues, the microphone is amazing quality and the price was great compared to other competitive headsets on the market.Got this as an alternative to a desk microphone, great for streaming, very durable and adjustable headband great for all head sizes

I have been using this as my main PC headphones for games and streaming for months now with the XLR Mic connected to a low noise mixer connected to a USB line in adapter and the headphone 3.5mm connected to USB 3.5mm audio adapter on the way out. Sound quality is absolutely excellent and the Mic sounds fantastic. Really happy with this, it's so much more convenient than having a separate condenser mic / pop filter/ shock mount. with this thing angled so it's to the side of my mouth there's no pops and no vibrations from the desk. amazing quality. I sometimes regre not getting the USB version for simplicity's sake but the XLR option is more flexible in terms of being able to mix in other audio in hardware before it gets to the computer. My only gripe is the headphone 3.5mm plug and XLR are very close together meaning if you have space between your connectors like I do you might want a 3.5mm extension cable. Other nit pick is the cable is hard wired to the headset so not user replaceable. That aside, this is an absolutely excellent product. Worth every penny.

The sound profile is great, especially with my Creative Soundblaster AE-9 sound card setup which takes XLR for the mic, and provides the phantom power required for said mic.The quality of the build, I can't say it's quite as stiff I as I would prefer in its adjustments, as it slides rather easily. Almost too easily. But it has a firm enough grip on the head to not adjust itself about like is possible with cheaper headphones. So that's nice.The microphone itself, as far as I can tell listening to it through my own setup, sounds great. There is the caveat that if you are in a loud room, it will pick up the other noises like is to be expected; but noise cancellation sorts that out right away. Once again, the AE-9 is kinda saving the day here.I guess that maybe is something to mention then overall. If you are going to buy these, you maybe want to buy a good sound card or otherwise sound system for it. I have a funny feeling that most motherboard audio outputs won't be able to drive this headsets speakers well enough. Some testing with different impedences tells me this is probably going to be the case for many unless they actually have some decent onboard audio. (It happens.)If anyone wants to test something to see what I mean, go into your desktop if you have one, and find the HD_Audio port near the bottom of the motherboard. If there is a cable for your case to connect to that, do that. Now go into your audio settings, and select to run the audio through that instead. There is a good chance that due to this being the HD_Audio port, that front I/O will have a slightly better audio result.If so, you're welcome. If not, well, might I suggest getting the Creative Soundblaster AE-9 with this purchase? It, or something similar, will make these sound awesome. Or rather, more awesome than they would sound if you didn't.Okay, rundown:1. The mic is great, but definitely use some noise cancellation if you're in a loud room. Considering the purpose of these is to have a decent mic attached to a decent pair of headphones; it accomplishes this just fine. Also the mic swings up to mute. Nice little feature since it's not always going to be in use.2. The build quality is fine, what I said before covers the main things mostly well enough I think; but there is something that bothers others. The cable. Honestly!? I mean sure it's not detachable, but the XLR connector isn't the giant weight they treat it as... if it's connected it's not weighing on the cable, is it? This is part of why my review sounds like a sales pitch for a sound card. Because honest, you should be getting one or something adequate for handling XLR if you are buying this. The only way the XLR connector becomes a burden on the cable, is if you shouldn't even be using the product in the first place "technically speaking". There is a USB version available for the rest, and if you really need to, I guess there are adapters a person could use... but I have not tried those, so I cannot speak on them much. Also, this mic requires phantom power to operate... not sure if you're gonna get that through a normal mic jack. As for other strain potentials the cable could go through... I dunno what others are doing, but my cable basically go straight to laying on a table next to my left shoulder from the left earcup, and travels to the audio dock for my sound card on the same table. So I doubt it's being stressed much. Worst case scenario, I have to pull out the tin/silver/copper solder and the iron. (True non-leaded solder, unlike the usual tin/lead version.) Not my first time fixing a cable for a headset.But I do agree it would have been preferable to have a detachable setup, with a single extra replacement cable for just in case. Honestly, at these price points, I kind of expect that to be included and as a default. Not my first pair of cans, and others had it. But I bought these knowing full and well it wasn't detachable, so I am not miffed over it or anything. Just would be nice is all. Audio-Technica, if you're reading this... an updated version that only makes things better and changes only the cable situation... just saying. Still XLR, but maybe the 70's instead of the 50's. That sort of thing. Would gladly shell out again for that in a few years from now.Anyways.Are these worth it? Yes. Would I buy it again? Absolutely if I needed to for good reason, not just to get a new pair cause the cable became a problem. Would I suggest them to others? Only if they get a good sound card that handles XLR mics to go with it. Honestly, it's a kinda obvious connector that should be respected for what it is. If you're gonna buy gear that requires specific connectors; you best get the gear that goes with that connector.Alright. That's enough out of me.

Variante mit Klinkenanschluss für den Kopfhörereingang und XLR-Ausgang für das Mikrofon:Vorab: Ich bin auf der Suche nach einem Headset für das Zocken, dass vier + eine Anforderungen erfüllen muss:- für den Preis sehr guter Klang,- für den Preis sehr gutes Mikrofon,- hohe Solidität,- komfortables Tragegefühl über längere Zeiträume (3-4 Stunden) &- meine (Gleitsicht-)Brille darf nicht weggedrückt werden (= Ausschlusskriterium, egal wie gut die anderen Kriterien erfüllt sind(!)) undEinschätzung:++ Klang: Der Höreindruck ist zweifellos etwas sehr spezielles, mir jedenfalls gefällt der Klang, alles wirkt sehr mühelos und niemals "falsch", für meine Anforderung passt es++ Mikrofon: Sehr realistische Wiedergabe, sehr hohe Verständlichkeit, IMO auf dem Niveau von Studiomikrofonen (was auch der Anspruch des Herstellers für dieses Produkt ist)++ supersolide: Das ATH-M50XSTS macht einen extrem soliden Eindruck, alle Gelenke sind sauber geführt, die verwendeten Materialien erscheinen maximal wertig - eine wahnsinnig überzeugende Haptik! Die Ohrpolster können einfach ab- und (minimal frickelig) wieder aufgezogen werden. Das USB-Kabel ist von der "guten alten" Sorte, natürlich zweiadrig (wegen der zwei Kabel), welche zusammenge"klebt" sind, dadurch minimal sperrig, aber alles noch in sehr praktikablem Rahmen.++ Tragegefühl: Ich muss eingestehen, dass ich einen großen Kopf habe (>>60cm), da ist der Kopfhörer immer noch sehr komfortabel, allerdings finde ich den leicht geringeren Anpressdruck bei meinem beyerdynamic DT880 noch etwas angenehmer - "trotzdem" trage ich das ATH-M50XSTS gerne. Die Mesh-Ohrpolster sind superbequem und dick, die aus Leder(?) habe ich nicht ausprobiert.+/0(?) Brillenkomfort: Da bin ich immer noch ein wenig unsicher, "eigentlich" bleibt die Brille an Ort und Stelle, "eigentlich" ist alles so, wie gewünscht, superdupertoll ist es allerdings genausowenig wie beim beyerdynamic DT880, den ich behalten habe - ich tendiere deutlich zum BehaltenEin abschließender Hinweis:Ich hatte die analoge Variante recht spontan gekauft, da sie als Retourenware im "sehr guten" Zustand deutlich verbilligt war. Dabei hatte ich übersehen, dass das Mikro per XLR-Anschluss zu betreiben ist, was ein analoges Audio-Gerät notwendig macht, dass das analoge Signal in ein digitales für den PC umwandelt UND, dass die nötige (sog.) Phantomeinspeisung von 48V liefert, ein reiner Adapter reicht nicht.Da ich einige Elgato-Streamdecks am PC einsetze, hatte ich mich für das Elgato-XLR-Dock (hinten am Streamdeck Plus) entschieden, und damit bin ich irgendwie nicht so recht zufrieden, was allerdings ein andere Thema ist. Empfehlungen für ein solches XLR-Mikro-Headset laufen oft auf das "Behringer UMC202HD" hinaus...Ich für meine Person habe mich entschieden, diese XLR-Variante zurückzugeben und versuche die USB-Variante vom ATH-M50XSTS, denn obwohl das XLR-"Gefrickle" an meinem PC in Tateinheit mit dem Elgato-XLR-Dock Ungereimtheiten hinterlies, bin ich erst einmal vom Kopfhörer an sich sehr überzeugt - wie geschrieben, die Brillenkompatibilität für mich prüfe ich weiter...Insgesamt: Eine eindeutige und klare Kaufempfehlung!
