Mike’s commentary on the daily passages “Take It to Prayer , ” where Catholics will be able to pray the daily prayer alongside Fr. Mike and the rest of the CIY community “Dive Deeper , ” which features unique content related to each day’s readings, from images and Q&As to prayer prompts and ways to live out the teachings of the Church in the day-to-day In addition to the daily content, each volume of the Companion will provide an introduction and review for the sections of the Catechism it covers. Written by Dr. Petroc Willey, professor of theology and Catechetics at Franciscan University of Steubenville, these introductions and reviews will help Catholics know what to look for in the days ahead and recall what has happened in the days completed. Volume I of The Catechism in a Year Companion covers days 1–120 of The Catechism in a Year podcast. This sought-after guide to the #1-hitting podcast The Catechism in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz) is coming to you thanks to many collaborators, including: Fr. Mike Schmitz Dr. Petroc Willey Ann Koshute and more! Review: Very Helpful Companion - I am delighted to have this first volume of the Catechism in a Year Companion, which covers days 1-120. It will serve as an excellent review of Fr. Mike Schmitz's daily podcasts and a way to remember the key points. The book is attractive with some beautiful artwork and print large enough for easy reading. In the beginning is an Introduction by Fr. Mike, then a page titled "How to Use This Catechism in a Year Companion," then a one-page Introduction to Part One: The Breakdown and Key Teachings. The end of the volume has a short Concluding Summary, followed by three pages titled "Concluding Questions and Answers" (such as Does everyone have a desire for God? Who wrote Sacred Scripture?) Then a half-page titled Notes, which lists a few books, such as Rick Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life." Similar to the Bible in a Year Companion books, each day is divided into three main sections. Here's an example of one day: Page 62 indicates on top that it is Day 29: Knowing the Name of God. Then follows a "Reflect on the Faith" section which brings out the highlights of that day's reading and shows the pertinent reference number in the CCC for some of them. Page 63 shows on top which paragraphs in the Catechism are covered that day, followed by a section called "Take It To Prayer," with Fr. Mike's prayer for the day, and a section called "Dive Deeper" which sometimes has just text covering various matters and sometimes a work of art, on this day a work of art showing "Moses Before the Burning Bush" with commentary on that event. There are also sometimes suggestions for further reading. I can tell that I will find this book helpful. I am very glad I bought it and plan to order the next volumes when they appear. I do have one suggestion for any future editions of these Companion books: an index listing all the works of art, the page in the volume on which each one appears, the name of the work and the artist, and the source from which the image comes. Review: EXCELLENT guidebook for Father Mike's podcast - This Catechism in a Year companion guide is the first of 3 volumes to help one follow along with Father Michael Schmidt's Catechism in a Year podcast. However, one could also use the guide alone. It is excellent and full of thought provoking and filled with principles of the Roman Catholic religion.I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about what the Catholic faith is based on.

Perfect
My husband and I are going through this catechism and it’s awesome. They did a great job putting this together. I like that it came with labels, though I do wish they were already labeled, so we wouldn’t have to do that. It’s truly a beautiful catechism and is worth the money.

Learning/Relearning the Faith
I started into this series for many reasons. But main ones or top three if you will was/is: 1. I left the church years ago and was refamiliarizing myself with what I used to be; 2. I kept hearing lots of things about this series; and 3. I decided to give it a shot. Now the series is spread out over three volumes. Each volume has roughly 120 some odd days in it, so you will need all three books to complete the study. Anyways, onto what I think: The books are short and easy to follow. There are two to four pages per day depending on the topics. In each day, you will find some reflective statements/questions, a prayer that FR Schmitz had actually prayed on his podcast (Named the same as the books), and there is a dive deepr section. Then each day covers a specific number of points in the Catechism (See my review on the Catechism published by Ascension Press). With this book and that catechism specifically it makes the process of learning or relearning the faith that much easier. The content in this book is done in such a way that a vast majority of people would be able to understand it. My drawback with this, is I wish it was all in one book instead of three. Other than that, its a wonderful resource and I recommend it.
