This is a really fun crochet project. I think it is beginner friendly because they're simple crochet stitches (only using single crochet, half double crochet, chain, & magic circle) and it's easy to follow along with the tutorial. I kept making mistakes and had to start certain pieces over, count my stitches again and again, and rewatch the tutorial steps. The tutorial is someone making the entire elephant pattern in real time and it's very easy to see their stitches and steps. I first made the one of the right for my son but by daughter quickly decided it was hers (even though I had another project done for her). So I ordered a second kit to make for my son. It was a slightly different pattern and it came out just a tad smaller. Yes, the first one gave me practice for the second and I did have a little bit tighter stitches for the second, but the row counts are different. This works out just fine for us because my daughter is older and bigger so it suits that her elephant is just a tad bigger. Anyway, this is such a great craft activity. Highly recommended. All the supplies are in the box. The yarn is soft and doesn't separate easily even after pulling the stitches out and starting over a fourth time. I had extra grey & pink yarn and stuffing left over from both boxes. I chose not to do the eyebrows and pink toe embroidery because they're so cute as is and with my luck I'll accidentally give them angry eyebrows and toes on the wrong side of the leg (embroidery is not my strong suit).

Perfect beginner kit. I made my first amigurumi in 2 days and it actually looks cute! I’ve always wanted to learn crochet but every YouTube tutorial left me frustrated with tangled yarn and no idea what I was doing wrong. This CODGP kit was a total game-changer. Everything you need is in the box. The instructions are genuinely beginner-friendly: big photos, simple wording, and they even tell you common mistakes to avoid. I messed up a few stitches on my first try, but the video walked me through fixing it without frogging the whole thing. If you’re on the fence about learning crochet, get this kit. It’s foolproof, fun, and way cheaper than buying everything separately. Already ordered the dinosaur kit for my niece. 100% recommend!

Let me start off by saying I'm reviewing the elk crochet kit, not the elephant. I have the elephant too, but I'm reviewing the elk. The design is super adorable. I mean I just cannot get enough of how adorable it is, especially with the added winter hat. The yarn is bulky chenille, however, and it is for this reason that I believe this kit is not good for beginners. It is VERY challenging to see and count your stitches with a bulky, chenille yarn unless you are at least an intermediate level and know what to look for. This is especially difficult when using a dark colored yarn. I would say if you are a beginner, start practicing regularly with a normal worsted weight yarn before you attempt chenille. Then make sure you have very good lighting when crocheting so you can see your stitches well. There are crochet sites that say to not even attempt a chenille yarn until you can crochet with your eyes closed. While I think this is a bit of an exaggeration, they do have a point in that it is a much more challenging medium to work with. The finished product though will be amazing. Video tutorials are provided by scanning the QR code provided in the written instructions. I've always found the video tutorials helpful. The video is narrated by someone who's first language is not English and has an Asian accent, but it's still perfectly understandable. The video is not broken out into chapters, but it does have captions that refer to the Elk body area and row count for reference. I haven't yet finished my elk, but when I'm done, I'll upload a pic. I must have it finished by Christmas because it will definitely become a part of my holiday decor.

Product states it comes with detailed instructions and access to easy to follow video. I tried to find video of how to make this elephant, but there aren't any. I am so disappointed because I was looking forward to this project and it was a gift for myself. It also appeared to be missing yarn so the project wouldn't have been completed which would have been really frustrating. Editing to add: I was contacted by the seller through Amazon. They assured me there are enough materials to finish this project and they sent two separate instructional videos. One video consisted of different stitches. The other video was how to make the elephant. I found the instructional video hard to understand because (no fault to the instructor) of the accent. I ended up finding another video featuring the same stitch the instructor was attempting to teach and found I was missing a bit because I couldn't understand what was being said. I was able to finish the odd shaped head and the okay oval shaped body. When it came to the arms and the legs... no instruction whatsoever. Just a mention to refer to the instructional manual (which I don't have and wasn't given). Because I've completed the head and the body, I doubt I can still return it or be refunded my money. This really is a cute project, but it has been frustrating for me. I cannot say I would gift this to a beginner. I changed my rating to two stars only because they reached out to me via Amazon and attempted to resolve my issue of not receiving proper instructions. Edited to add (again): I reached out to the seller two other times to get the paper instructions that are shown in the picture. I was sent a picture of pieces of paper with instructions on how to complete. Two of the pictures of paper are hard to see because of the color and and poor lighting. I did notice the paper instructions are different than the video. The paper instructions indicate a dc stitch is needed while in the video she is demonstrating a version of hdc. I did reach out to the seller again this morning through Amazon and have yet to hear back because I'm riding/driving the struggle bus trying to complete the ears and attempting to follow the paper instructions and video instructions. Great job to the people who have completed the elephant! Your work looks great! I'm updating my review and giving four stars because the seller has been very helpful and supportive. This may have been a frustrating project for me, but they have been wonderful and supportive. I will buy from them again so I can get better at crochet. Their product is well made (with as many times as I had to start over and the yarn held up ... 😅) and the other kits they have available are really cute!

Die Materialien sind wirklich hochwertig – besonders das weiche Chenillegarn, das dick, strapazierfähig und sehr anfängerfreundlich ist, selbst wenn man Fehler macht und neu anfangen muss. Das Set enthält alles, was man braucht, und die Videoanleitungen sind super hilfreich und leicht verständlich. Besonders gut gefallen haben mir die klaren Schritt-für-Schritt-Anweisungen, die einen wirklich an die Hand nehmen – perfekt für absolute Anfänger. Der gehäkelte Elefant ist total süß und viel größer als erwartet – eher wie eine mittelgroße Stoffpuppe! Auf jeden Fall deutlich größer als andere Häkeltiere auf dem Markt. Egal ob man selbst häkeln lernen möchte oder ein kreatives und durchdachtes Geschenk sucht – dieses Set ist eine großartige Wahl. Ich werde mir auf jeden Fall bald noch ein weiteres holen!

Ce kit est d'une très bonne qualité. Le crochet fourni est très confortable et la laine super agréable à travailler. Plusieurs commentaires mentionné un manque de laine ou de rembourrage, de mon côté je n'ai pas eu ce problème. J'ai même pu crocheter une tortue avec ce qu'il me restait et il m'en reste encore. Je trouve le prix absolument raisonnable au vu de la qualité du matériel fournis.

Really happy with how the zebra turned out, it is so cute! It took me about 20 hours to do. It is not for beginners! The yarn and material are very good quality. Not sure why other reviews said they didn't have enough yarn. I have so much yarn and stuffing left over. I do not recommend using the plastic needle if you like a firmer stuff. The needle bends too much. I ended up using a regular needle I had. The video for the most part was helpful but I used the written instructions more. The only improvement would be to show the sewing parts slower and show the areas of where the parts are being sewed on more clearly. And provide a stitch count for where the parts are being joined together. I ended up winging most of the sewing. Also would have been helpful to show the stuffing of the legs, arms and ears. Ended up having to take stuffing put to attach. But overall very happy with the results.

Per essere la mia prima esperienza direi che sono soddisfatta. Il kit è veramente completo, forse si poteva mettere un po’ più di imbottitura e il filato marrone è davvero misurato. Le spiegazioni sono chiare anche per un principiante, sia scritte sia video. Il risultato finale dipende naturalmente dalla propria manualità. La mia non è venuta perfettamente uguale al modello ma sono comunque riuscita a portare a termine il lavoro.
