While it does a decent job on carpets and area rugs, it’s not quite as effective as on hard surfaces, but it still gets the job done for light cleaning. I would definitely invest the extra money into the cordless if you can. This machine is the best! It doesn't get right to the edge of everything but it saves so much time! Make sure you keep it clean/maintenanced, purchase the filter and extra rolling brushes in advance to ease this process as well. So glad I made this purchase! Why did you pick this product vs others?:I had, had a few friends that said they loved their crosswave so I had been thinking about it A LONG time. I reviewed a few other machines this one had the controlled sprayer/water dispense which I liked vs. A constant flow. The reviews helped as well from other customers likes and dislikes.

Pros: water tank is large enough that I can easily clean all the floors on my 1st level on one tank, and usually the bathroom floors. It's easy to use as long as you can work a vacuum. It worked nice to clean up some spots on my area rug where the cat had overindulged in his breakfast, but not a replacement for the deeper clean with a Bissel little green. This was more just to make sure I got everything cleaned up. I like that it has a plastic mat to sit on, and has a brush cleaning cycle so that you don't have to do that manually. It's lightweight and the buttons are easy to operate.Cons: the cord is rather short and it connects at the bottom of the unit, which is really annoying and gets in the way. there is a hook to hang the cord higher as you work, but it usually falls off. It is LOUD. It's a very high pitched noise and have to wear ear protection when using it. This is the main reason I deducted one star.Overall it works well for my needs, keeping the laminate wood flooring clean with 3 pets. Used weekly to keep things fresh, especially in winter or muddy seasons.

Exactly as described. Easy to use and does a great job on tile and laminate hardwood. No streaking, easy to handle. Didn’t buy it to use on carpeting. Good value at this price point. It’s important to follow the directions for cleaning the unit after each use; it’s easy and doesn’t take that much time. Most importantly, clean the roller/brush and ALLOW IT TO DRY COMPLETELY before re-installing. This will prevent damp/musty odors that some reviewers have complained about.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:This is the best product in this price range for tile floors. I wish it was a little heavier so it had a tad more scrubbing power, but people complain about the weight. This is the third one I’ve bought, because these work so well. I can usually get about 3 years out of one before it starts losing suction power. You have to make sure you clean the unit out after each use and it will last a while. I don’t even look at the other brands when shopping, I go straight for the crosswave!
