I enjoyed how the myths and stories of Norse mythology were intertwined with the storyline. I also enjoyed how the runic elements were explained. I’m not sure how I feel about Odin being portrayed as an evil mob boss but I can get past that since this seems to be set in the view point of the frost giants who would have definitely seen him as a villain. Great twists and turns and not too much spice. I would recommend this as a rainy day read. I feel like it is the first in the series however I arrived early and there is no second book in sight. Review: Fantastic - Fallen Gods is fantastic. This is book one in the new Fallen Gods series and I am here for it. This is based on the Norse mythology Odin and how the Gods and giants are waiting to be awoken. Rey is a daughter of Odin and tasked with the one job to retrieve the hammer. Only the ancient blood deemed worthy can wheel it. She is doing the best she can as she enters Endir university to get close to Aric. Aric is grumpy and he knows something is changing with Rey being the enemy. Aric is starting to wake up and come into his abilities the closer he gets to Rey and uncovers the hidden ruins on campus. You have this chemistry build that is wonderful between Aric and Rey as they grow closer and unlock the clues. This will pull you in and not let go. I cannot wait for more to come. You need to read this today.

It was ok…
Story was ok…had a good plot but some parts just didn’t feel right. Steam and spice seemed forced, some parts you could see right through the twists and turns and some were surprising. I really tried to like this book…read it in a day. It was an easy read, just not as good as I hoped. The ending left a lot to be desired because it left a lot of holes and didn’t seem complete.

Yes. Yes. Yes. YES.
Honestly, I was ready to rate this book 4 stars until about halfway through. I loved the concept, the overall storyline, and the way small pieces of information are scattered throughout the book and slowly start to click as you go. That lore buildup really worked for me. But the timeline threw me off more than once. I had to flip back a few times just to double-check and think "wait... this all happened in three days?" And not in a shocking, intentional way… more in a how is this even possible? kind of way. I also felt like the characters were a bit stiff. I learned their backstories, but emotionally they didn’t feel as deep or layered as I expected them to be - but it slowly got better! That said, the plot twists and the ending absolutely surprised me in the best way. I was sitting there like wait, WHAT? Oh my god, what is happening? It had me in a full chokehold by the end. So yeah… the crown goes back on. 5 stars. I can’t wait for book two ✨️

Unexpected ending, filled with twists and turns.
I have always wanted to read a fantasy type Norse Mythology book. This book was perfect. It's dark and twisty, with a slow burn and toss in some humor just because. The pace was so incredible, not to slow but not rushed either. The characters are broken and wicked. Enemies to lovers at its finest. The mind games and power struggles really bring this epic story to life. It's brilliant on so many levels. You need to get your hands on this book ASAP.

Incredible!
I love a good mythology book, and having Washington cities that AREN’T Seattle show up is awesome. I lived in both Everett and Lake Stevens so I KNOW the breath taking hidden beauty it is. It’s a really great story in its own right, but the added familiarity of these places just makes it more real, and easier to invest in emotionally. 10/10 would recommend. Can’t wait for the next one!

Absolutely Addictive
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Absolutely Addictive Fallen Gods by RVD was an absolutely amazing read—I was sucked in from the very first page and never wanted to come up for air. It’s one of those rare books you want to binge in a single night, yet you force yourself to slow down just so you can stay in its world a little longer. Aric is officially my new favorite RVD character. I couldn’t help but fall for him—every scene with him pulled me deeper into the story. And Rey? She is unbelievably strong. I don’t even know how she managed everything she went through, but her resilience and heart made me love her just as much. The pacing, the emotion, the chemistry, the world—everything worked. I closed the last page desperate for more. If RVD ever writes additional content with these characters, I’ll be first in line. I need more!

4.5 Stars
I read it with a readers group so I had to pace myself and it was so hard because I wanted to know what was going to happen next!!! I had so many questions. I could picture the setting early on because it was a college campus with runes and mythology so it was right up my alley. I found Rey the FMC do be really relatable in that she was deeply connected to her step mother and she would do anything to protect her. She was also tossed around by her father and that made her search out for love other places. She was also extremely witty and sassy - I LOVE that in an FMC. I was invested in her saving the day and waking the giants honey. Some of the pacing did feel a little off because things happened WAY too quickly. I cannot wait for the next book!? I hope there is next book!? 4.5 stars.

Oh my gosh. I am not a huge fan of Fantasy books, but Rachel Van Dyken has outdone herself with this book! Fallen Gods is an exciting romantasy book about Norse mythology that had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I absolutely loved Ray, Aric and all their hilarious, snarky friends. I can't wait for book two!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 STARS Fallen Gods hooked me early with its striking setup and unique mix of dark-academy mood, criminal edge, and Norse myth. I found Rey and Aric’s chemistry is compelling. The mythology reveal and gentle cliffhanger show real promise for the series, and I’m curious to see where book two goes. Fallen Gods is a MUST read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!
