great security cam so no cloud, no internet, no wifi , but also no warrantee in this application
Update 5/2020...2 of these continue to monitor our building for 2 years without fail and without maintenance unless there's an incident to review and then change the sd card view the target footage. They continue to work plugged into 110 with a transformer and a surge protector and since they overwrite the card they are maintenance free. No cloud, no internet, no rebooting, no wifi problems and no computer. Also when our power goes out the batteries kick in with no delay. Note that this usage invalidates the warrantee as Browning's market is as a battery only game camera and not a security camera. Update 3/28/18...The Ultra Video picked up a unique tattoo of a repeat burglar and that footage has him in prison. Please Browning put out an authorized surge protector so unit can be plugged into wall power 110Volts and remain under warrantee. I'll bite the bullet and invalidate my warrantee to say I'm using a quality surge protector and 110 to 12 volt transformer for several months with no issues. When the 110 went out in a storm the batteries kicked in and continued to get the dark scenes...Awesome :) .The Ultra Video is high res and great. The trigger speed is great. The sensitivity is pretty high as it even picks up reflections from a glass door 15 feet away. This is a high crime high traffic area surveillance application which is why I need so much capacity and the ability to over write the sd card when full. I've been using this for 4 months in high traffic security application with 128 gb sd card. It writes over oldest files if they are in the same directory that the camera creates which is 100_BTCF . If you have other directories that are older it still won't overwrite them so stick to that directory if you want max storage. I write over a 100 - 30 sec Ultra Videos / day and that's around 5gb/day so a that rate I get a good 3 weeks before it starts overwriting the oldest. Pretty sure an expensive 256gb sd card would also work. Also it's true that Ultra doesn't improve the video a lot but i can see the difference when I'm trying to read the buttons they are pressing on the intercom about 15 feet away.Browning won't guarantee the camera if you use wall power / 12 volt converter as they are concerned with power surges. I can't tell you if I'm using wall power but if I did I'd put a surge protector along with the step down converter. Also can't tell you that if the power goes out the batteries kick in and continue recording. Doing those things would void the guarantee so obviously I'm "not" doing them. I have not been doing them for 4 months with no problems. If you were to do the external power you'd also need the right size plug for the bottom of the camera. That outlet is for their authorized external battery pack that holds 8 AA batteries. I've used that external pack and it works well (just like wall power would). If you want wall power get one of those transformers that comes with a variety of plugs, one of which, should work in the bottom jack. Hopefully Browning will come out with an authorized surge protector as that's the only way this functions as a virtually trouble free security cam without constant maintenance. They are in the game cam biz so security is not a priority for them but I find this a perfect security solution.FYI this doesn't work as a deterrent as almost no one knows it's a camera when they look at it(city folks). Visible cams are not a deterrent in the city as most trespassers just don't care if they get caught. Jail might be a step up for many. I just want to know what happens and how they get in.This cam also has the small screen that shows where its aiming and aiming these things inside a lock box is tough. Basically your aiming a big steel box with no ball joints or swivels. Since you're concerned about theft of the big steel box it needs to be mounted securely. Whether you use bolts or screws or metal straps, the mounting process often leaves the camera mis aligned and you need to re mount it. Again I'm using it as a security cam and it needs to be fairly precisely aimed at our door and intercom and I can only get so far away(about 15 feet) .

Great camera that takes great pictures!
Helped my dad order this for my mom for Christmas. She loves to feed the deer that walk through our woods and wanted to see what comes at night and, occasionally, empties her freshly filled troughs. It’s been three days/two nights since it was set up (which was so quick and easy) and both my parents love it!The display on the bottom is nice so they can tell what time the deer come through and even what temperature it is. The quality of the day time and infrared pictures are amazing too. The pictures I attached were taken with the “high” quality picture option and it is doing a great job. They were not taken on the “ultra” setting. The infrared is clear and you can see exactly what was there (the first three pics). My parents are already talking about buying another one of these in the future to get more angles. They are both very happy with this buy!

Does not work below 40 degrees F [UPDATE #2]
This camera does not work below 40 degrees F! Living in Maine, that means this camera is worthless half the year. I sent it to Browning for repair--telling them it would not work when it was cold, but they were not able to reproduce the issue in their repair lab, so they sent it back. I asked them if they tested it while cold, and they said "no," their repair lab is room temperature. So defective product and poor warranty service.UPDATE #1: I decided to give the camera one last try by turning it on inside where it was warm and then trekking out and putting it on the tree with it running, but I couldn't even get the camera to fire up inside. I figured that since Browning wasn't going to adequately test this unit nor honor its warranty, I had nothing to lose by opening it up and seeing if I could find anything obviously wrong (like a weak solder joint). Upon inspection, it appeared that all solder joints were serviceable, though there were some that were not 100%. Then I discovered a ball of solder fused between a leg of a surface mount IC and another surface mount component. Being familiar with electronics and their manufacture, it appears that the automated surface mount job was done well, but the manual soldering of the wire leads to the board was substandard and that's probably where the dropped ball of solder came from. I got out my soldering iron and solder sucker, and removed the ball. The camera fired up on the second try. I took it out with it running and will check it in a day or so.UPDATE #2: So I took the camera out with it turned on in my sweatshirt pocket and left it running when I mounted it to the tree. I checked it a few days later and the only images I got were the first 30 seconds of it going into my pocket and then while in my pocket walking out to my trail. I didn't even get images of myself mounting it to the tree or walking by it each day. In contrast, a cheap trail camera (a different brand) I have mounted nearby got daily images. THIS CAMERA DOES NOT WORK IN COLD WEATHER AND VENDOR DOES NOT PROVIDE GOOD SUPPORT.

Best daytime is 55 feet
I haven't operated the camera long enough (a few days now) to comment on overall performance. I tested its range several times with various settings and full battery charge during night and daytime. Best daytime is 55 feet, night vision is 45 feet max. This does not match the advertising claims. Quality of images is very good.

this camera is perfect for monitoring nature
this camera is perfect for monitoring nature, i have some excellent video footage of animals during the day and night, mammals indicate they have no idea that a camera has started recording.

Parfait. Merci !
