A nice cheater method for learning some Chinese characters, but not good long term.
They say that three-star reviews are non-committal, so I guess this is just one of them. So there's some advantages and disadvantages to this set. Let's get started. First things first, this does help you memorize characters and meanings. It absolutely does. I would say that if you commit to the process and try to remember things the way that they guide you to, that you will remember these Chinese characters. But just because it works does not mean it's the preferred way to learn Chinese. In my adventuring into learning Chinese, I have learned that there are patterns in Chinese characters, specifically the semantic phonetic component that you can look up if you want, and that teaches you how Chinese characters work and that can teach you these characters on a deeper level. For example, they try to take every character and turn it into some abstract visual. But real Chinese characters have real abstract visuals that they represent, and then they combine those visuals to create new characters, and this deck completely ignores that and makes up its own system. However, this isn't terrible. If you wanted to get started and just learn 30 or 40 characters somehow just to get started, this is a perfectly fine way to do that. Just note that once you move on to the next step, basically all of the stuff that you memorized in here is going to be worthless, and you're going to have to kind of relearn some stuff. However, just to get started, this is a good system. And honestly, most people going through the journey of learning something new are gonna do some memorizing in ways that they're gonna have to unlearn later. That's very natural, and that's not necessarily wrong.

Easy to understand for Chinese beginner
I bought these on a whim and I love them! The cards are easy to understand and gives examples on how to pronunciation. It is helping because seeing words in English but they aren't exactly said the same - the hints and pronunciation helps. For flash cards, the quality is very nice. Recommend!

Super helpful
I love these cards so far. Iโve just started using them and theyโve already made reading and understanding the Chinese characters so much easier. Iโve been learning mandarin mainly with pinyin previously because I just couldnโt see myself actually being to read and write the characters but now I have hope lol I also love the nod to Wu-Tang in some of the cards. Highly recommend!

๐Buy these!!!!
Excellent product. Well made. Maybe you could make corresponding workbooks as well, and add other languages such as Hindu cards and workbooks if able to. Also buy another set if flashcards to study with family's and friends. Wish I could afford to get all the products that Dr. Moku makes. Suggestion, can the company make tracing boards made from nice quality wood that correspond with the language learning, ie Chinese alphabet and numbers?

This is a solid way to learn basic pronunciation and learn characters. I couldn't give it 5 stars because my pack had 2 duplicate cards and was missing 2 cards.

10/10 recommend
I'm not one to leave reviews. But I have been self studying on apps and the Internet for about 60 days and have retained very little in terms of character recognition, remembering tones, getting tones right. These cards made all of that super easy. I've memorialized and will continue to ingrain into my head, 63 (half of the total set) in 3 days of light studying. My pronunciation and confidence has increased a lot and I was told my pronciation is pretty good with my tones. Totally worth the price and I'm going to look for the next sets to get.

Easy practice
I like that the cards are laminated. The visuals of the Chinese characters on it is great, along with the pronunciation of the Chinese words. Very helpful

Brilliant for complete Chinese beginners!
My daughter and I learned about 20 Chinese characters in one sitting and we have actually retained the info. The pictures are very clever and once you can remember the mnemonic text, you will remember the meaning and sound forever. I never thought that learning Chinese (a new years resolution) would be a family activity. We have our set displayed in the kitchen and everyday we change the card. A+

Awful descriptions and pronunciation
Quality of cards very good but awful descriptions and pronunciation of the actual words. I only use these cards for the hanzi and completely ignore the pictures and explanations as they are confusing. Better buying cheaper Hanoi flash cards as these are not worth the price.
