How does it attach to a roof rack?

It comes with "L" brackets to mount it. You may need to modify them or come up with something completely different depending on your rack.

Does this awning have tracks on both ends for mounting an awning room?

On the ends, yes. But on the sides there is just extension poles to attach "wall panels" to.

My roof rack is 3'5" between rack arms. Is this enough space to be a solid base for the 8'2" awning?
