Do you know what creativity is?
This book leaves no stone unturned for people who want to really understand what creativity is and how it can be useful to their organisation or community. The fact is, creativity is not widely understood or appreciated for what it can provide people. This book really gets to grips with the concepts like creativity and innovation and helps you put them into the context of your personal and professional life. It's well researched, clearly has original thinking that builds on the topic and gives you a lot of practical advice on how to apply creativity in life and work. What I particularly like is the fact it's not afraid to challenge established notions of corporate creativity and forces people to face the fact that the daily claims of innovation and creativity that companies make are superficial when you stop and examine their systems and processes for bringing new ideas into the world. Of course it provides the answers too, for those who are willing to really grasp the reality of creativity in practice this book is quite possibly the best place to start. Oh it's also great fun to read.

Plenty for anyone looking to turbo-charge their own inventive styles.
An interesting concept and I like his approach. This is an easy to read guide with plenty of stimulating triggers and thought provoking ideas - as I suppose it should be, being a book on the subject. An easy to read and engaging book, this has plenty for anyone looking to turbo-charge their own inventive styles.

Chock full of ideas for better ideas
There are a lot of books written about creativity, with most (if not all) of them focused on the wrong things. Dave Birss hasn't fallen down the same rabbit hole. Instead, he's managed to condense some really smart thinking on helping anyone - yes, anyone - have better ideas. More than that, he's been able to show anyone (yes, anyone) how to KNOW if they have a good idea or not. And then, if that wasn't enough, Dave has managed to demonstrate how to bring those better ideas to life, so they don't just live in your head. The only downside was the book got a bit dented in the post. Hardly Dave's fault, though.

As a creative professional I loved this book, but it's also wonderful for everyone!
What a knockout book. David and I agree on so many things about creativity, and there's so much synergy in here with my process. But still so much to learn. Key for me is understanding that creativity isn't a mystery, nor something born of "genius". But that EVERYONE can both be more creative, have better ideas, and keep them alive longer through some really simple and practical steps. I recommend it for anyone that's curious about creativity. How it works, why it's important and how to apply this fundamental human energy to anything you do!

An enjoyable read and incredibly useful
I've seen Dave Birss talk about creativity and the creative process at several conferences over the years and have always come away feeling inspired. I was hoping his book would be as stimulating, and thankfully it is. And then some. This guy clearly knows his stuff. I can see this being added to many HE reading lists and arguably deserves its place alongside Young's "A Technique For Producing Ideas"

Creativity can have structure
I really enjoyed this - practical and readable. I think for anyone needing creativity in their work or studies, this is really helpful in giving advice and challenging the belief that creativity is all free flowing without any structure to get there. There is a way to inform your thought process if that’s what you need or ‘thinking outside the box’ doesn’t come naturally to you.

He's done it again
As with his previous books, I found this one to be inspiring and motivating. A great read that gives a unique and honest perspective of creativity and how to get the best out of you. A useful tool that I would recommend everyone read, regardless of what field you work in.Keep 'em coming, Dave!

Like no other book, this one has transformed the way I deal with challenges and my team. It has opened my eyes to a new way of approaching my own creativity and how to encourage others to trust in theirs

Excellent resource!
As another reviewer mentioned, as soon as you read the dedication you're drawn into this book. The author's writing style is engaging and imminently accessible. I've read other books on creativity that were a bit dry, but this was an informative read without feeling like a textbook. This is an excellent resource for anyone attempting to identify their creative mindset and explore new and (hopefully) great ideas. I especially appreciate the exercises at the end of each chapter and feel like I have tools I can use in my daily life to not only be more creative personally, but as a manager in a large organization, to also hopefully foster an environment where others feel supported and encouraged to share their ideas as well.I highly recommend this book.

Un titre accrocheur pour un contenu ... insignifiant (synonyme : banal).PS : faudra m'expliquer comment un tel navet peut récolter des appréciations positives aussi nombreuses !

Everyone can be creative with structure and practical application outlined in this book
An insightful and very practical book about creativity, that begins with breaking down the common myths such as "I'm just not creative" and guides you through a very structured approach to creativity and how to have an abundance of ideas. What I particularly liked was the practical "homework" to exercise your creative muscle, with each stage of the creative process in the book chapters. The author very clearly describes the difference between creative doing and creative thinking and sets creativity and innovation in a clear context as a subset of ideas. I also enjoyed the surprise of finding the introduction at the end of the book, with the justification, that this is the introduction to your new life after reading the book. The core message and call to action in that "introduction" is "The more effort you put into feeding and exercising your mind, the better placed you are to come up with world-shaking ideas. And we need those world-shaking ideas now more than ever". I thoroughly enjoyed the book, the structured frameworks provided to be more creative and develop more ideas and the exercises to learn the techniques. I highly recommend this to individuals and organisations that are wanting to learn more about developing new ideas and implementing those ideas on their journey of growth through business and life.

Excellent content, letters were small, worth the price
I don't want to comment on the content as it is excellent. But the letters in the book were some what small, you may face little difficulty in reading. But comparing to the price, worth it. It's not a paper back but hard cover. So definitely you can buy it at this price.
