For people who want to have controls on their networks
Very solid product. This is a must-have if using Ubiquiti AP. It supports UniFi software ( like the cloud key but all-in-one gateway). UniFi is also nice, easy to use. It has all feature/data display on your phone make you feel the controls of your network. It has been running for a bit more than a year now. Zero issue. If I would say 1 thing to improve, it will be nice if it could powered by POE switch. I have a USW lite 8 PoE switch (4 PoE + 4 Ethernet port) which powers 2x U7 Pro and USW Flex Mini (5 ports). Total PoE usage is about 23W out of 52W. If UCG can be powered by the PoE switch, I will have less wiring. Price? Yes. It is more expensive than 2 WiFi routers. My setup is about $670 (UCG, 2x U7 Pro, and USW-lite-8-PoE). But, every ubiquiti product can last more than 5 years, unlike others only last about 2-3 years (usually because of weakened WiFi signals and end-of-life firmware updates). If you want a cheaper setup, try the "dream router 7" with additional AP (with a PoE injector). You could do it with $500.

Stop waiting and buy it already.
Went from a TP link to this, wow what a difference, sorry but it was easy for me to setup and get online. The hardest part of the setup was figuring out my password for my UI account. What this allows you to control and monitor through the app is amazing. If you have ubiquiti hardware and want or need remote management this is the perfect piece of equipment. So far the stability is the same as the older hardware. The tiny screen actually has the up and down speed on it and thats pretty handy for quick troubleshooting at a glance and its a very clean box, but why can't they stick the feet on it?

Best router you can get to manage and secure your smart home or small business
Best bang for your bucks. Makes life easy! Makes network segmentation easy. Great features. Can be pared with a layer 2 vlan aware switch. I'm getting another one!

Awesome router.
Great features for a router at this price point. Been flawless for over 6-months now. Needs some network experience to use full feature set.

Solid wired firewall/gateway appliance
Have extensive IT experience but didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a dedicated firewall such as Sonicwall or similar, plus those can get troublesome after/during broadband outages, when replacing broadband routers, etc. This device worked flawlessly and even those with no tech experience will appreciate the simple setup. There’s also an optional security service you can purchase and add to the OS (yes, got that after install). I would like some additional LAN Ethernet ports (8 would be perfect) but I added a switch and Eero to complete the setup. Please note that this is WIRED ONLY. The device is smaller than my Ring alarm base station and has a pretty small footprint. Overall highly recommended based on feature-set, optional add-on security service, performance and price.

Great Network Gateway and management of devices
Works well as a router and to manage devices with the Unifi software management suite. I am managing multiple switches and access points. Allows great VLAN controls and with security controls. Have VLANs for IOT devices to isolate from main wifi network. Security and Filter controls are easy to configure. Great choice for an affordable SMB solution and for advanced home networks.

Excellent value for a home router
Our home network is all Ubiquiti with several access points (wired and extenders) in various rooms. We were using an EdgeRouter X as the gateway between our cable modem and all those devices. There’s nothing wrong with the ERX but its interface and ease of use leave a lot to be desired. So it was time for something better. The UCG Ultra was the perfect replacement. It’s pretty small — similar to a Mac Mini M4 but half the height — so it squeezes into our patch panel where the ERX used to be. Setup was a breeze, and the web interface is polished and slick. (Or you can use the app for most things.) It makes it super easy to control rogue clients — like stop your “smart” TV from phoning home. For more advanced techies, you can do things like set up multiple VLANs and assign devices to those VLANs based on WiFi password or Ethernet port. So it’s very prosumer and a great value that can adapt to your use as you grow your home network.

Great entry to the Ubiquity ecosystem
Great router, and a good entry point to the Ubiquity ecosystem. Easy to setup with the UI app and is a nice clean addition to my network. Plus with having young kids in the home it gives me great insight to what is going on in my network and the control to block/restrict what and when I need to.
