ArrowheadPK8006 Replacement Stem for 6-Inch 450 and 480 Series FF Hydrants

Double-check on the Arrowhead website to see if this is the right length. And be aware this 6" stem is actually about 10" in length.Definitely read and follow the simple directions. It says to open or unscrew it halfway. If it seems like the piece is not fitting all the way in--like it is a 1/4" or so too long to "catch" the threads, then take it out, screw it a little tighter and re-insert. You will see how it closes the gap and allows it to "catch".This was a god-send to find this here on Amazon and be able to fix it ourselves. We needed it quickly and no stores anywhere around us sold this. Even though it took several days, (more than normal because of an ice storm that shut down the entire state), at least we didn't need to hire a plumber to change out the entire outdoor faucet. There were no plumbers to be found.......If you need to put the water back on while you wait for this to arrive--like we did--try to wrap some Teflon tape around the threads. It slowed the leak.

this product looks like an identical match to the original Square headed end you have to take a file and file the corners down sometimes they don't want to sit down the throat of the valve it's an easy fix it works great would definitely buy it again

Works nicely, but only 4 stars because you do have to file the corners. Not sure why they used a square end that goes inside a round copper pipe, but I'll leave that to the plumbers.

you would think you were ordering a difficult item to describe. The vendor has made a mess out of it with too many details that make no sense.

After receiving the new stem noticed the hole was not drilled out to attached the handle, ordered new handle and self tapping screw assuming it would cut threw the metal that didn't work tried to drill the hole to difficult to drill threw the material. This stem is poor quality. SECONDS. I am very handy and afraid of damaging the stem if I drill into it any farther. Can't secure the handle. I would think twice before buying from this company.

If you ever order this product be careful with the size since apparently the description versus the question and answers is incorrect. Not sure why that cannot be corrected. It would not be hard. Just remember whatever size they say this is, cut off 2 inches when measuring the bronze portion. My bronze portion on my stem was 6 inches. I ordered a 6 inch and the bronze portion I received was 8 inch. I should of ordered the 4 inch. There ya go Amazon, I explained a little better for you.
