Cheese Mountain Motion-Activated Cat Toy

I love the idea of this toy--there aren't very many cat toys with motion sensors out there... But it is LOUD. And I'm not talking a quiet electric shaver buzz, but a hard grinding motor hum that ruins the stalking part of cats' play. As soon as they're close it erupts and surprises them, usually into backing off, if not running away entirely. You can minimize it by placing the toy on a thick rug or towel but there is no way to stifle the noise entirely.The other problem is the speed and pattern of the mice peeking out. They move too fast and have no variance; consequently being way too predictable to inspire continued interest in intelligent animals. I was further disappointed to find was that the sensor only works when the lights are on--defeating the idea of midnight self-amusement when I am unable to play.I have a VERY playful, rather fearless kitten as well as a middle aged meow and neither were impressed. When the kitten is in his 'fully loaded' mode I can sometimes convince him to whack at it for a few minutes.Heads up: it takes C batteries which are not included (and at least in my house, not kept in stock).

toy works well but cat lost interest quickly. Mouse does not come out very far and retreats too quickly. If it came out further and randomly, I think cat would be interested longer.

Very noisy - scares the cats. Purchased two, one did not work at all and the other worked part of the time. Waste of money and time.

This is the best toy EVER, my cat just hangs out waiting !! I have lots of other toys, some very similar, but this one is the best !
