I used to think a higher-volume developer meant better or faster results, but for my hair, a lower-volume developer combined with patience gave me much better results and left my hair feeling healthier. I mixed mine at a 1:2 powder-to-developer ratio (the instructions recommend a different ratio, but this worked well for me).
