Yes, it can show you the steps to solving it
It's not exactly going to teach you how to do it, but it will get you back to a solved state.If you want to learn, like i did just a few days before buying this, there's a youtube video that's about 45 minutes long. i watched it twice before i could do it on my own.with that video, and this smart cube i was able to solve it in 69 seconds just a few days after starting

Dead on arrivalThis confused my family when I told them the new Rubik's Cube was dead, but yes it wouldn't turn on or activate right out of the packaging.Edit: Just got a second one and it was dead on arrival as well. I am not going to try for a third one.

16 year old son says-turns smoothly. Sometimes loses connection and you have to manually pair. The app is very useful.

Rotate the white side 3 times FIRST or it won't work!!!
I returned one cube after thoroughly reading the included paper instructions and even trying to replace the battery. It wasn't until i contacted support to replace the second one a video was shared with me that indicated i needed to turn the white side 3 times after receiving or doing a factory reset.After that the green light lit right up and connected to the app no problem. The paper instructions should really have this mandatory step in them.After that the app seems to respond well and i'll use it for some extra practice.

No calibration, it's painfully to fix
If the cube pops, which will eventually happen. There is no calibration feature, so you will need to re-assemble the cube to the exact state before it popped, you can't just reassemble it solved, because the cube will record all the movements when the cube is apart and think it's in a scrambled state when the cube is actually solved.Since there is no calibration feature, you will need to manually "solve" the cube which will make it scrambled but "solved" on the app, you will then need to completely take apart and reassemble the cube in the correct order, without rotating a single center or it won't be "solved" in the app.

I wanted a cube I could use immediately with the app
The battery is so well hidden, that you need tools to access it. I have plenty of DIY projects, I did not want this to be one of them. I returned it for the rechargeable version, which works well.As a cube (withhout the connectivity and the app) is very good, and GAN's cubes are the best, the low rating is because of the battery issue
