Solid, but no WOW! Factor
I keep asking myself "what would it take for them to be 5 stars?" I don't know the answer, but the feel 4 stars to me. They are very good in most categories. Some people might think the material is too light, but heaver fabric would be too hot for others. I think of them as All Day pants - as in comfortable for all day in an office environment. I did once rip a pair when on a construction site, but I was on a construction site! They are fairly lightweight, but these are Dockers, not Carhartts. I just placed an order for another two pair. I think I've order 6 or more of these from Amazon in the last 6 years or so. When it comes right down to it, I'd rather get these again than try something else that will most likely be less comfortable, less durable or too hot for my taste.

The material of the Essential style pants was much nicer ...
The material of the Essential style pants was much nicer and that is what I would buy for my husband. This seems to have more cotton and a little "stiffer" and not as "dressy" a pair of pants. The bottom hem is machine stitches and you can see the hem stitchesversus using a machine hem stitch where you don't see the stitches. It looks cheap.Update: After washing a couple of times, ironing them, comparing to his other Docker pants, I decided that they are a POOR reflection of Docker pants, I would put them is the category of very casual pants barely appropriate for a work environment. My biggest complaint is the type of hem on the pants legs. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. No other Docker pants that my husband has has a hem that you see all of the stitching. All other have a machine hem stitch and you can hardly even see the stitches. The material is just so so. We were expecting more quality of pant that was appropriate for a professional environment. NO, I would not get these again even for casual wear.

Buyer Beware
I was replacing the same pants I have, However these seem to be lesser quality or maybe a knock off. I have the classic D3 and it has cloth sewn over the stitching in the crotch these do not. The pair I replaced also have the metal hook and the button these only have the button. The button on the pants that arrived is loose and needs sewn on tighter. We will see how they hold up Buyer Beware.

Cheap Quality lasted 3 weeks
I gave 2 stars not for fit or look but Quality, this pants lasted all of 3 weeks and I stepped up onto a ladder and it ripped open not just the seam but right down the back of my leg. Very cheap material

Don't buy these
SECOND UPDATE: These pants have turned into a disaster over the past few months. I've washed them in the same loads as my other pants, but while my other (older) Dockers pants still look and fit essentially like they did when I bought them, these have shrunk in weird ways -- like the thread used in the seams has shrunk faster than the panels of fabric, so they just don't fit or look right at all. Again, I wash these with all my other pants, but this pair is the only one I've had trouble with. These were made in Bangladesh, while the others were made elsewhere (I think all of them in China). Ugh.UPDATE: I previously said the measurements on these pants were accurate, but apparently I was just wearing bigger shoes than I normally do when I tried them on. I compared them later to two other pairs of 33x32 Dockers I bought at the store, and these are actually about an inch longer. Also, they don't seem to have the stain defender protection that some Dockers pants have -- even ones I bought for the same price elsewhere. Given all that, I'd suggest passing on these.I like the fit of the D3s more than any other Docker style. The D1 and D2 are both too tight on my thighs -- if you do any running or biking on a regular basis, you'll probably have the same problem. The D4 is just a tad too loose in the seat and thighs for my taste, as they make me look shapeless. The D3s help me work what I got.One thing I've found frustrating with Dockers is that the color names are not consistent from style to style. I like a khaki that's closer to tan than it is to white, especially since a lot of lighter khakis look almost like pale yellow to me. Dockers generally calls the colors I like "Dark khaki" or "British khaki," but if you look at their website, you'll see those colors vary pretty widely in different styles. A British khaki in one style may be lighter than a plain khaki in another, and the undertones vary from greenish to reddish to yellowish. If you care about the color beyond "not black or blue," I highly suggest checking out the Dockers site before you buy anything online.

Dockers Signature D3
This is a versatile pant, elegant/casual which pairs well with polo shirts, sport shirts and oxford shirts with boat shoes, loafers and oxfords. You may even wear a sport jacket or navy blue blazer depending in the color of the pants. They allow a great range of movement becuase of their D3 fit. I have been wearing 38x31 D3 or D4 the last four years without any size inconsistency. The material is very good. Opinions about lower quality material depend on what type of pant you are buying. I own several types of Dockers ranging from Advantage and Signature, to On the Go and Comfort. They are all diferent ranging from dressy to casual.

I purchased because of 100% cotton. Seam in the crotch split and had to have it sewn by tailor.

Fabric is nice but this pant is two side longer than it described. I'm wearing side 31x30, but when measuring it, it is 31x32. I have to send it to tailor.

Find a good tailor!
Well, needs tailoring, but fair enough as no clothes will fit you off the rack.
