It appears that these poles are very sturdy, and many love them. The color is nice, and it seems like great quality. I guess I just received a fluke, because when I went to unlock the pole to extend it, it broke and the spring fell out. With that being said, I received an e-mail from the company asking about the product. I let them know what happened, and did NOT ask for a refund. I just wanted them to know. They refunded me the full amount. Although the pole broke, their customer service is wonderful and I would recommend, only because I truly think the pole was just a "lemon". I really like the black over the traditional white or aluminum. The black color gives it more character and looks great on our antique Cape Cod style home. Also like the fact it is adjustable and allows the use of different sized flags. The pole states that it is made of iron, but I'm sure its just some other type of metal as its not extremely heavy like iron would be. Nonetheless its sturdy and does a good job of keeping the flag from wrapping around the pole.
