I already have one of these I found a few years ago and wanted a new one. I was disappointed when I received this because the workmanship was unacceptably poor. The front clasp has changed. On my original, it is secured with two sturdy screws. On the new one, there are four tiny screws that were sloppily put in on angles and thus misaligned the mechanism to the point where it only allowed the lid to close unevenly. It was an obvious assembly defect that should have never made it past quality control but did. The rear hinges were not much better, installed unevenly with little care. As a result, there was a gap on one side when the lid was closed.The top surface was badly scratched as well, as if something abrasive was placed on top and dragged across it. My original does not look distressed, this one does. Bubble wrap was placed around the box and was in good condition so it obviously was wrapped already defective. I returned this, and judging from some Amazon Warehouse sales that disclose similar defects, this was not a one off.The manufacturer needs to clean up its act and stop sending out obviously defective pieces.

The box is pretty, however it is shabbily made. Probably of balsa wood. The overall impression is nice and serves the purpose for containing remote controls and such on the coffee table. There were two splinters that chipped off.Still, it is nice and functional. It simply lacks quality.

Was not finished well and was a handful of splinters waiting to happen. Hinge was misaligned and did not close well. Returned.

Unfortunately this arrived damaged. It seemed sturdy and well made however the shipper obviously paid no attention to the product it was delivering, there were scratches across the top that were impossible to miss as well as on the sides.

Lovely piece but not sturdy. I received it with the hinges falling off, screws lose, just flimsy made where you secure the top to open. It is a beautiful box though

Love the look and design. Worth what I paid for. Great for storing my pillboxes and over the counter meds/pills etc. Sturdy. Well made.

Very nice box, I did return it only because it was a little bigger than I expected.

Perfect for what I needed. I used this box as a gift box. It just looked a bit cheap.
