Starbucks coffee was originally known for its strong flavors and what some people described as a burnt after-flavor. While I personally love dark, strong, aromatic coffee's they aren't for everyone and Starbucks soon realized this. The Pike Place brew is Starbucks effort and producing a great medium type blend to appeal to a different segment of coffee drinkers. While many coffee snobs have bashed Starbucks over this saying that they "sold out" and are trying to now be more like a Dunkin Donuts that just tries to appeal to the lowest common denominator I feel that this blend (along with other medium blends they have developed) are still great flavors and serve a purpose for different events and moods. For me coffee is like music, some times im in the mood to listen to some hardcore metal and other times i want to listen to some classic 1950's Dean Martin, and now thanks to alternative brews like Pike Place, I can get my share of both @ Starbucks.

Everything it claims to be and the kind of coffee that will likely please the majority of coffee drinkers. I find that a coffee press is the best way to appreciate freshly ground quality coffee beans, but this is very good using an automatic drip maker as well. It has a well rounded full flavor, nice aroma and without being too acidic. The shipping was very prompt arriving two days earlier than the earliest estimated time of arrival. It came well packaged and the beans were of top quality freshness. "I only wish that I could afford it more often." I highly recommend giving this one a try.
