100% The Real Deal
If you absolutely, positively HAVE to have real espresso on the road, and you have the OutIn Nano, this is what you need. This is the real deal, period. If you use good coffee and grind it properly and do all the rest, you will 100% get a real shot of thick, syrupy crema-topped espresso. It is very well engineered and very well made. The tamper, used with the dosing funnel in place tamps your shot perfectly. I would not change a thing about it. The downside is that it is equipment and process intensive. And it is heavy. Not for minimalist backpackers. More like hotel travelers and car or motorcycle campers. Maybe it's made to use at home so you can get $2000+ espresso machine quality coffee for less than $200. Because that is what it makes. This is the tool for the guys who labor over their shots seeking thick crema and syrupy thick shots without compromise. Made from very high quality (heavy) machined and anodized aluminum and stainless, it'll last forever. There is one plastic part- the lid of the portafilter that contains the shower screen but the rest is durable metal. And it's the same high quality plastic that the Nano is made from so it should all last. The instructions call for 16-18 grams of coffee, I started with 18. I used my road-warrior KinGrinder K6 to grind at a setting of 0+60 (one full rotation from 0), fine enough to choke it I thought, I'd go from there. 50ml of hot water and it flowed (too) easily. Pretty good shot but not syrup. The top of the puck was muddy so I upped the dose to 19gr and choked the grinder back 10 marks to 0+50. 50ml of 202f water and that was the ticket. Took a few seconds to build pressure, then a slow/ medium flow of beautiful thick syrup that formed a nice thick crema. A coffee every bit as good as what I make with my Appartamento & Mazzer grinder after 3 years of fine tuning and 40+ years of espresso making generally. Now I just have to decide whether I want to add all of this heavy stuff to my carry-on when I travel. The Nano has a LiON battery, you can't put it in your checked luggage. Little containers with 19gr of coffee and the also excellent, also very well made and also the very very heavy KinGrinder. Like 5 lbs of stuff to make my morning shot.

A Must-Have Upgrade for the Outin Nano
The Outin Nano Basket Plus is an absolute game-changer for anyone who wants to pull real double shots with their Outin Nano Espresso Maker. Right out of the box, you can tell this is a well-made, high-quality accessory—the weight alone speaks to its durability and precision. If you’ve been disappointed with thin, underwhelming shots from Nespresso capsules, this is the upgrade you need. The basket plus setup allows you to use fresh ground espresso, which makes a massive difference in the quality of your shots. Expect some trial and error while dialing in the right grind size and tamp pressure (as with any espresso setup), but once you get it right, the results are fantastic. Pair it with a good portable grinder and fresh beans, and you’ll be making true café-quality espresso anywhere. While the Basket Plus is small enough for travel, the added weight of the basket and tamper makes it better suited for car camping, hotel stays, or office use rather than ultralight backpacking. That said, if you’re willing to carry the extra weight on a backcountry trip, you’ll be the envy of every other camper when you pull a rich, crema-topped shot in the middle of nowhere. If you love espresso and want to unlock the full potential of your Outin Nano, this is a must-have accessory. Sturdy, well-built, and truly effective, it transforms a good portable espresso maker into something that can actually rival a home setup. Highly recommended!

Love it, worth it if you want double shots
Much higher quality than the plastic stuff these come with standard. Pulls high quality shoes and everything works as expected.

Great addition to the system
This should come with the kit itself, but either way, it's very well-made and does a great job at creating a delicious cup of coffee. Everything is machined to an extremely high standard. I found a trick on Reddit to get the puck out of the filter basket: either wait until it cools down and blow into where the coffee comes out or what I now do is put a paper towel over the hole and give it a quick shot of air and it comes right out without burning your lips - do it quickly.

unreasonably good espresso
Amazingly, this has become my daily driver espresso machine. It provides a competent shot of espresso from a completely portable machine. This is a vast improvement over nespresso pods or the smaller basket that come with the outin machine, and rather amazing for the size of the machine. My biggest gripe is that, as other have said, the kit only comes with one basket. In order to make more than one shot at once, you must empty a boiling hot metal basket of spent grinds. Also, while it is mostly trivial to knock a spent puck from a basket that has rested from some time, extracting the grinds from a hot basket is a messy affair that involves scraping the grinds out or blasting them with water. This is unacceptable, and why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. Also important- grind and shot size are critical to getting a good pull. Get these wrong and crema and flavor are heavily impacted. A digital scale with accuracy to 1 decimal point scale is necessary to use this basket. I've found that a good starting point is 17-18 grams of illy's pre-ground espresso or decaf. This should give a consistent, tasty cup, and a starting point for experimentation with other beans and grinds.

Top notch build quality
Ok, here goes. While I think the Nano is horribly overpriced and should have included this item for that price, this review is for THIS item, not that. When I ordered this kit, I thought, $40 for this, are you kidding me? How about $15? This is the best built piece of equipment I have seen in a long time. The whole thing together is downright elegant. The photo doesn't do it justice. Piece by piece: I challenge anyone to feel that tamper in his/her hand and not say "oooh" out loud. The doser is, well, pleasant to look at. Laugh if you will, it is soo simple yet so well done in its elegance. The lid is a lid. Meh. It does what it's supposed to. The basket is also very well made. I would have really liked it if you could remove the inner screen for cleaning, but maybe just rinsing is enough; time will tell. The collar is so solid and so well done that it puts the one that comes with the Nano to shame. The "distribution tool" is, ahem, funny. If you ever lose it, grab the nearest paper clip. The only addition that would have made this kit absolutely perfect is some sort of carrier for it. There's no way to assemble the whole thing for storage in such a way that something isn't sliding around or rubbing against another component. The engineering that went into this is truly inspired. The build quality and machining required to produce it cause it to be well worth $40.
